 I need to try one.

I haven't seen a surge in real life yet.

I know I like the tool layout.

I'm almost positive I'm going to like its size.

The new surge 2 is a looker. Almost sexy it its own way.

its on my want list of tools

I sold my Surges years ago. They were too big and bulky for my taste. I much prefer the Wave...

The new Surge is awesome. I much prefer it over the original. If you have the opportunity to handle/own one, go for it :tu:.

Here's fat man eating his favorite food. wire trim nails.

and pulling that nail got me thinking.

I've had to have pulled a few hundred nails with him by now. Time to take a pic of the plier head to show how wore its looks.

as you can see they look pretty dam good still. They really should be looking rough by now . I'm impressed with how much wear the black finish can take.

and here he is again laying down enjoying the warm spring sunlight.

I can't say enough how impressed I am with this tool. It works. No gimmicks no frills just a solid block of a tool.

I'd be caring it to work everyday even if I wasn't doing this review. I have owned no tool that works as good and is tough enough for the big stuff. :tu:

That's awesome man :tu:  I'm glad you've found a tool that really works for you and does what you require of it.

It was easy to find a tool that would do most everything I need my tool to do.

Finding one that can withstand doing it day after day that is well-built enough to do  it tomorrow was the hardest part.

My pics didn't turn out but I used the new guys can opener. It worked good. A normal can opener may be quicker but it's not even close to as fun to use.

I give it a 7 :)

it worked a better than most multitool can openers I've used.

I'm about ready to change my name to Mario.

working on plumbing again today.

installing plumbing isn't the fat mans area . He's just around for moral support more than anything. I did use the wood saw to make a bigger opening for a pipe to run through. Easy day for him not for me

Glad you found the pouch. :tu: Hope all the gear was still usable considering how long it was in the snow.

As for the bills, I hope you can get that part sorted soon. Or use some place with free wifi to update us occasionally.

Keep your chin up, this can't last long. :salute:

I should be back 100% by the weekend.

edit

little boy and crew made it out of the snow ok. A little surface rust. Nothing oil and elbow grease couldn't fix.  :D

Well its good to be back  :multi:

I think I should start with the most exciting"to me anyway" part little boys homecoming. :)

for those who don't know i lost my Leatherman rebar,Vic climber, ptx piranha, nitecore ezaa , Chapman ratchet and bits inside a maxped micro in the snow about a month ago.  It must have fell out of my pocket and gotten plowed up the next morning.

 found em :) :) :) :)

the maxped did a good job of keeping the snow out. It would have done alot better if it would have been zipped closed all the way.also Water did completely soak through from melting snow.

the only tools that suffered any serious rusting was the ptx piranha and Chapman bits. The rest was fine. Just a hint of rust on the blade edges of the rebar. The rest came out ok. I got lucky. I think a few more warm days the rebar would have rusted up. I got to say that the Vic climber came out of the snow as nice as it went in 0 rust.

now for what I have been using the guys for.

metal saw works excellent on both tools. I cut a few bolts with the fat man and the little boy cut 2 hose clamps. I'm impressed with how well they worked. :tu:

both pliers seen use pulling nails /staple, fat man got some extreme testing on some stuck rusted nuts" if the pliers were weak I think I would have broke them"
here's fat man losing a nut for my croc to finish off :P

The saw
on both tools was used, I cut a few tree branches off with the little boy and the fat man got to eat wood trim and some abs pipe that needed to be cut and was in a very confined spot.

 drivers.
Little boys were used on a few screws to put up some pics for my wife, also to open a battery compartment on a clock, easy jobs, the fat mans large driver was put to the test prying open a locked door,"I bet my swisstool doing the same time" I also wired in a few water meters

the cutters on little boy haven't seen use but the fat mans had cut nails, wire, sheet metal, plastic ties and stripped wires all were done easy and quick. The 154 cm cutters may be my favorite tool to use on the fat man. I get so much leverage with the large handles it makes cutting easy.

the blades

plane edge fat man
sharpening stakes, cutting boxes opening plastic packages

serrated fat man rope, extension cord and a tow strap

the rebar blades don't really get used. I use my folding knife at home for most everything but its nice to know they are there and razor sharp if I ever do need them
