Not sure if this is the right thread to ask a question in, but it does pertain to a mod. I want to replace the micro driver on my charge with and awl. Does anyone know if the Rebar awl, or any other awl is the same thickness as the Charge's micro driver?

Rebar Awl is about 3mm thick and Charge eyeglass driver is 2mm.

Hey guys, new here and first post. I started out on the Facebook group but yikes...lots of wise guys on there who prefer to be smartasses vs give advice so hopefully the forum is less hassle...

Anyway, I wanted to thank many of you for sharing your mods, they've helped me out with this project a lot and I may have some questions still but thought I'd share where I'm at so far. I've carried a Vic Spirit for a long time but recently changed jobs and so my needs changed a bit with it, specifically I tend to use a Philips driver a lot more and wire cutters enough that I really wanted to be able to service them so it got me looking at Leatherman tools.

I have never liked the bit driver idea. I'm sure most of you already know so probably no need to go in depth about it, but the lack of reach and lack of grip in the screw leave me wanting more. That narrowed my choices down to the tools with full size dedicated Philips drivers and I initially got a Rebar but the plans I had pushed me to the ST300 and on down the rabbit hole I've now combined tools from the 300M and 300EOD.

Anyway, besides mixing and matching tools to what I'd use the most I wanted to see about making driver bits that have more reach and better bite into screws so I ground down a Milwaukee bit to fit the bit holder.

It lacks just a wee bit of reach vs the 3D driver, but I'm still on the hunt for different types of bits I can modify. I have a couple in mind that I know I can make work and make them basically as long as will fit inside the tool and still allow it to close all the way.

I also would like to swap in another T-Shank tool but I'm not sure where I can fit it, it could go where the wood saw and flat driver are, but then I'd have to carry a flat bit and I'm trying to not need any additional tools on me or my belt (though I do plan on making an additional bit kit for my bag). I don't want or need two saws but having both wood and metal would be cool, but I definitely do want a file so if I can't work another T-Shank in somewhere I may put a factory file in place of the knife since I always carry a knife anyway. I would also need another T-Shank tool and I'm not buying another 300EOD for it so if anyone is selling one let me know.

Looks great, Evil  :like:  :tu:

You have gone down the rabbit hole that I have been contemplating. The M and the EOD have tools I could use, and so I have also thought about acquiring and combining the 2 MTs.

Welcome to :MTO:  and I can assure you that our forum is much better than the FB :salute:

That is a pretty awesome mod and I do like the idea of grinding down better bits to fit into the bit driver :tu: :like:

Very nice toolset for sure and it seems very versatile :woohoo: :like: :like:

Love a nice mod and that sure is a nice one :salute: 8)

I redid my extended Philips driver today. I found some DeWalt bits that had the right length I wanted and a full sized shank that I could cut down and machine to fit.

I did end up with a wee bit of a gap when closed, I may fiddle around with the bit more and see if I can gain some clearance. The head of the driver is a bit more broad than factory so it hits the pliers. I could thin it out but for now it's an acceptable amount of gap for what is a significantly better Philips driver.

Reach wise it's almost as long as the MUT flip bit and vastly better than the shorty bit.

That looks like it's going to be a great Philips driver.  I definitely think it's going to be stronger.  Nice work!

Great work on that bit :tu: :like:

A longer reach Phillips is always something nice to have and some small compromises are definitely worth it :tu: :like:

My first post here and my first Leatherman mod. Rebar with 6 tools on one side and a bit driver on the other. I didn't have to reshape/resize anything, and the can opener doesn't try to come out the slot like I thought it would. I traded out the small straight screwdriver and the lanyard ring for this. Kept the 3d Phillips for its strength and backup bit driver (it's the kit I carry in the sheath anyway). I didn't want to lose anything else for scissors cause I'm not a scissor guy.

Sorry I can't resize my pic. I'm on the cheapest smartphone ever.
