Been thinking of getting a new knife for a while (since my wife stole my old Spartan to go in the baby's change bag!) but nothing fitted the bill. Closest I could find in a new knife was an Explorer but didn't need the scissors - ended up at SAKwiki and spotted the Modeler which was almost perfect though I wanted the pliers.

I then found my way over here, found the modding guides and all the great stuff you guys have been doing, spent a long weekend reading everything I could about modding knives and looking for inspiration.

Ordered a brand new Swiss Champ, dug out some tools and got on with things:

Had a bit of fun putting it back together - bent a pin, got some springs the wrong way round, took a while to judge the length of the pins for riveting but it all went pretty well.

Hey great mod.  Ya the swiss champ is nice to start with since you can just delete the layers you dont want and you get to reuse the pins since they are nice and long.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

Very cool mod and introduction, hiraethus.

I like the inclusion of the metal saw/file. Very useful and thin layer that should be on more models in my opinion. :tu:

Thanks guys.  Syph007, I think it was your tip I first saw to break down a bigger knife to get the parts you need.  Good one. :tu:

Already planning my next job.  ::)

Black G10 Harvester

For this mod I used an Alox Harvester and exchanged the silver Alox scales with Black G10 with a Coarse

Texture. The G10 used is pretty coarse and the grip is very good.

I like it a lot. :tu:

I was thinking of doing something similar on a 84mm and was worried how strong it would be without liners. I see you almost doubled the width of the scales compared to the ALOX ones. Did you try with thinner G10 first or go straight to the thick scales?

I used 1/8 G10. So it's about 3.1mm and it's just a little bit thicker than the Alox scales. It looks like it would be thicker than the Alox because I didn't round the edges.
The G10 is very strong and I'm sure there is no need for additional liners even if you use a thinner G10.

Thanks for the response. I was planing on using something similar to G10 but for a Cadet + scissors mod. Hopefully I'll do it soon. :D

Thanks.  Will have to shop for a set of suspenders if I ever plan on pocketing this badboy.  It's getting copper liners tomorrow.
