I'm afraid I may have lost my Spirit... :ahhh

 :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

I would never lose a SAK.....again....and this time, I mean it!
Going to search my van again tomorrow.
It's got lots of corners and edges under the seat...
I hope it's there...
Hope you will find it! Use an sak with magnifying glas and a good flashlight and if anybody asking what you are doing, just say that you are Sherlock Holmes and you are following a lead

Nice one  :tu:

Where did you find it?
My van's battery is located underneath the driver's seat.
It fell in a gap between the battery and the seat mount (attachment to floor)
And shoved further underneath the seat
I spotted a shiny corner of the Spirit and managed to pull it out using a telescopic magnet.

I wonder what else is there...

Day 27:

Starting the day off with some coffee and the newspaper. Probably be a slow day today, but one never knows and I'm glad I'll have the Spirit with me. I really like the quality of this multitool.

Mech, glad you recovered your Spirit!   :ahhh  Now, be more mindful!  :twak:

Day 27 (continued):

No sooner than I think today will be a slow day for the Spirit than I find the retention straps on my IWB holster need to be tightened up a bit.

While I'm doing that, my wife comes up from the laundry room and says, "uh, I need some help."

Apparently while trying to wash a knitting project, she knocked the project behind the full and running washing machine (don't ask, I can't figure out how she did that.).

Well, I had my Spirit in hand already, so I improvised a knitwear recovery tool. I zip tied the Spirit, hook deployed, to a hiking staff. Using my pocket flashlight to locate the missing item in the depths of darkness behind the washing machine, I used the hook to grab the project and pull it back to safety.

You know how one sock of a pair always goes mysteriously missing? Well, I didn't find any missing socks, much to my surprise.

Confession time. My Spirit was now stoutly lashed to the staff. In order to free it from the zip tie, I had to resort to using a Rambler to cut the Spirit free.

Nice! Model 640? I love revolvers. I want one very badly. Good use with the hook as well.

The velcro on my working trouser's phone pouch is a little worn.
It must've dropped out while driving, and slided underneath the seat...

Also found a Huntsman in there that I considered AWOL...

Day 28

Almost done with the challenge and some thoughts. I have to say the Spirit is a decent MT, love the chisel and might have to have a go at making one for a mod. Like Poncho I don't think it has anything on the Rebar. I find that the outside opening tools are slower to deploy than the Rebar's inside tools due to the fact they are more fiddly to open, especially with cold fingers. I also find the locks harder to operate than the Rebars. The Phillips I don't think is as good either.

Boooo! Blasphemers!! :twak:

Nah, to each their own.
I absolutely adore the Spirit.
If they'd build one with a OHO blade I'd pay double the current price for it... as soon as I could afford it
So that's why I still have my Charge, but sold my Rebar.
My coworker now owns it and loves it, so everybody happy... and assimilated...
:assimilate:
To me, it's still the ultimate multitool so far.

Over the halfway mark, the spirit has rested comfortable in the new elastic carrier and I like carrying it this way.. Or at least this far

I have my eye on a few, just cant make my mind up on what size to get. I can only have one. i already have all small guns but i like small guns!! The ones i am looking at is model 60 pro series, 66 combat magnum, or 686 deluxe 3”. We will have to see how good i do at work/how good my tax return is :ahhh I want to have the option to carry it if i want to, but dont want it to be so small that i will wear it out.

I haven't noticed any problems with the locks. I think--not committing here--that the Spirit's locks may work better for me. I do like the Rebar's Phillips, but the Spirit's Phillips driver seems quite versatile. Seems to fit both #1 and  #2 fasteners well. What have you seen as an issue with the Phillips?

Having defended the Spirit above, I'll say I would pick the Rebar if forced to choose. I think I prefer the interior tool set, replaceable wire cutters, and the slightly smaller design. The Rebar definitely makes a better pocket-carry tool for me.

I have a S&W 686+ w/3" barrel. Might be my favorite handgun. Had the local smith do an action job on it. Wow! Buttery smooth trigger and DA pull weight dropped from a herky 11# to nice 7# (or there abouts). The 686+ is dead-nuts accurate out to 50 yards for me (vs old oxygen tanks). I think it is the epitome of the service revolver. Hard to argue against that. I have and do carry it, but it's a tad heavy/bulky. Still, with appropriate clothing and a good belt, it carries well. The 66 is based on a legend and is probably easier to carry, but I'm not sure the new version is as proven as the 686. And #sevenrounds.

I was tightening some kitchen cabinet hinges this morning and It slips on screws where the Rebar does not.

The locks on the Spirit if your hands are cold or wet are harder to work than the Rebars locks.

That's funny, after I posted above, I thought about tightening some kitchen cabinet screws with the Spirit earlier in the challenge and seemed to recall some slipping issues as well.    OK, time to go play with the kitchen cabinets again......

Follow-up:

Went and messed with the adjustment on one of the cabinets that was still not quite right. No issues with the Spirit driver.

Unintentionally, I over-torqued one of the adjusting screws--the enemy of good is better--and ended up partially stripping the screw, at which point the Phillip's driver slipped out. This would seem to be a case of operator error instead of poor tool design.    I think the recollected difficulty I mentioned before was due to the tricky angle required by working in the hinge corner of the cabinet.

That leaves me without a clear preference between the Rebar driver and the Spirit driver, at this point.   :-\
