Looks like an awesome time Humayd.
yeah it was a blast

Stunning trip!  Thanks for taking us along!   :tu:

pleasure

:like: :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh
FFS! All I have is a multi-storey car park

Also the only "Z"ebra (that's Zed, not Zee  :pok: ) we have are on crossings https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-49276461

Although I did see one at Windsor Safari Park (now LEGOLAND)  back in the 70's
we "Zed" here in South Africa too  :D
there's a nature reserve about 20 mins away with a few Zebra,Impala and other small antelope and mammals.
i live about 10 or 15 mins away from Durban city center, which is known for beautiful beaches, and mild climate [winter low is 8 deg C,but that's freezing for us locals ]
there's a game reserve with the big 5 a little over 2 hours away, mountains [snow in winter] about 2 hours inland.

Wow - fantastic! I’ve only managed to go as far as my legs will take, or on a limited bicycle ride no more than 20km from home..... hopefully that’ll change in the summer at some point.
we're fortunate, maybe out of necessity, businesses and some tourism had to resume, too many people have too much to lose, and our welfare system cannot care for the entire population.

Absolutely stunning Humayd :like:

thank you  :tu:

DAY 23 :

I didn't really use my FX this morning, I took a Compact apart (my first time doing that). It went quite well, except some (maybe a lot) scratches on a sideplate.  :ahhh :twak:
(But for a 91mm one it's fine as long as it's not an Alox)

I have been thinking about modding for a moment and I'm finally doing it.  :woohoo:
I'll modify this Compact with tools and parts from a Swiss Champ I bought off eBay (really cheap) & that is in mint condition.
I'll be happy to have a knife that suits me & I'm really enjoying doing this.  :D

I'll receive the (poor guy) Swiss Champ today if everything is fine & if I have time I will take it apart. (I'm using a Swiss Champ cause I'm planning on using other parts & tools for another customisation).
Everything will be soon on YouTube anyway.

Great work, Guillaume- modding is fun, and the best way to get a version of a rare knife like a Yeoman (I made mine) or something unique to you - can’t wait to see how it goes! :tu:

More great uses and pics, everyone!

Day 23

Just some post to open up for the main blade on the FX - only junk mail, but hopefully there’ll be something more exciting tomorrow,

23.

Sitting on the couch again, both kids in bed thankfully, so I am sitting here sorting feathers.

Not much done with the knife besides minor food prep so far.

I am amazed at awl the brilliant uses here; mine not so much  ::)
With that in mind it was a bit of a slow day today  :dunno: The FX helped slice Jalapenos for some burgers

Cutting jalapeños is a great use.

As much as the brilliant uses are fun to see and the routine uses can be more boring, the variety is why I love SAKs.  They can meet so many daily trivial tasks, that make carrying them so worthwhile.  Then they can step it up for the more difficult tasks when required

Without that lanyard you could easily lose the Fx in that snow.

Making some wood for the stove to cook hot chocolate for the kids.

Great use.  Is that a Solo stove?

Pry bar duty for the screwdriver

Good use.  If not careful the Fx could get so color.

Day  23

I've never really liked the mounting bracket for this bicycle light.

It's a terrific light, though. It's really holding up.

I decided to just throw something else together with electrical tape and the last of my two-sided velcro. Fx scissor powers: activate!

A spacer to flatten out the bottom of the light. Contents: electrical tape.

The final result works great!

Now I'm out of velcro.

I guess electrical tape and velcro aren't the most attractive solution, but the whole thing is by definition meant to be used in the dark.

End: Day 23

Day 24
The Farmer X made a soda can alcohol stove.

I’ve seen several different “how-to”s on making alcohol stoves out of different cans.  One thing that I thought interesting about several of these are all the different tools that are recommended or used.  I guess some people make them as a reusable ultralight stove, so they plan ahead and try making them perfect.  To me this idea is more an emergency use option with the great part being easily accessed materials and fuel.  So I set out to just use the Farmer X.  It is an rainy day and I didn’t feel like getting wet just for a trial, so it was tested indoors.  It isn’t pretty but worked to boil water for the oh-so-important coffee.

Maybe next I’ll try making the soda can popcorn popper using just a SAK.
