Always rare. Nicely done on forcing yourself to use it

111mm Day 07 (already!) :

Some light snow this morning for Adventure Boy's stroll:

(Image removed from quote.)

Later, a bit of danger.

(Image removed from quote.)

Anyone here like Kimchi?   :dunno:

Mrs Nix does not like the smell of Kimchi. One careless slip would have put me in the dog house for the rest of 2021......

To her credit, she did try a bit....and liked it!   :tu:
Mrs is a big fan of kimchi and she got all sort of it in the fridge.  I had some homemade ones from Korean friends long, long time ago, and those grandma's recipe was absolutely the best.  Contrary to what I used to know, a lot of good kimchi are not even spicy and are pretty favorable as a garnish.  Let me see whether I can take a pix of Mrs stash when I get home.

Top photo is cadets which completely fit in the slots, 91’s and 93’s sit up a little which actually looks better I reckon, 111’s and up to 130’s even do fit but obviously take up more room, the lid closes fine though, see pics below with a bit of a mixture to help gauge it

I don't know whether it's possible, but looks like the 111mm maybe best stored with 58mm?  Are those foam adjustable?  Maybe a really sharp cutter could carve out the foam in the middle and relocate the space.

Day 7

Used the Swiss Army Knife to open up a packet of Swiss chocolates.
Good to you see back!

Day 7 part two.
Used the Outrider to open a cute scaled Classic with custom lanyard.  :woohoo:

A donut keychain?! :like:

I might have missed it if someone has already commented on this, but does anyone (outside of this challenge) EDC a 111?  I don't know why I haven't carried mine more.  They're terrific knives, and really aren't too bulky.  I've taken to carry mine in the green Vic velcro sheath I picked up for the GAK.
I don't EDC the 111mm on a daily basis per se, but I always carry it whenever I am heading out for hikes/outdoor or travelling to outdoor location oversea(where local law permits it).

Day 2

Good morning everyone and thanks for being so inviting to a newbie like me  to the 111mm world. The more time I am spending with the outrider the more I am starting to like it.

But please see a small morning photo of the outrider in the Winelands. Used to open package of morning oats. Lets see how the day goes
Beautiful landscape! :tu:

So many great uses it’s hard to keep up - fantastic work, everyone! Comis - the Impact is still newish - I got in September after a 2-month wait to get one when the shops were allowed to open last summer, and I went for my airgun badge!

As for carrying a 111 as an EDC, in the UK this is pretty hard due to our laws on locking blades, though I did use to carry a Leatherman signal (found at a bargain price so I didn’t mind using it unlike my Charge TTi which is a bit of light duties/shelf queen when a police colleague recommended I not carry it as an edc back in the mid/late 2000s) when working for a heating engineer a few years back - despite the (ab)use it received then, it has scrubbed up ok! However I do live in a suburban/semi-rural part of the world so the chances of being challenged for carrying a tool are pretty slim - don’t remember the last time I saw a police officer....

TBH I usually keep the big ones separately but would work for display best with the small ones you’re right.

Put the box above together really to show Tet that they do fit (just about) and the lid will close.

I’ve thought about cutting the foam, it could be done, but as the boxes are stacked it doesn’t really bother me, may try it in future though

That’s a nifty system, Echotech - unlike mine you can see the contents!  :tu:

Day 8

Postie was early today  :mail: used the main blade of the Locksmith (must swap it for another of my 111s, but it was in my pocket at the time!) to open up the mini-envelope and clam-shell pack of an anti-can’t level - I liked the ability to swivel it out of the way when not in use, but it was a bit pricey - should come in handy for next time I get down to the range, when they’re next allowed to open.....

Day 08

Cheese. I've seen almost as much cheese in the challenge as 111mm. So, it being Four Layer Friday, it was right for the Locksmith to help get some Red Leicester on toast for lunch.

Instant coffee granules are better manoeuvred into a mug on a spoon though. But you don't need me to tell you that

Nice Fireman there VMan. I do like the Fireman and the Locksmith. But to answer your question Barry, and recognising what others have said about the law on this side of the pond I'm probably an 84mm guy at heart. Small and perfectly formed. 111mm is fun for a change.

I was hesitant to join the 111mm challenge because I thought what if I end up liking this size?  Then what?  I'll have to carry one.
My concerns have come true, I really like this Outrider and have carried it for most of the challenge so far.   :salute:

I been to UK once or twice, and as a tourist, I did carry the a 91mm SAK on person and figure shouldn't be that much of a problem if it is a deep pocket carry.  I wish there are better solutions that a pretty restrictive knife law, since I am not 100% sure it really is that effective stopping the crime, but meanwhile inconvenient a lot of law abiding citizens.  I am sure you guys all know it way better than I do.

The air rifle looks pretty amazing, looking forward to see some action from it in the future.

I don't know what happened--I thought bacon is the de facto forum's favorite, but somehow we all switch to cheese after 2021?  Is this the new thread I am sensing here, like the sandal wearing?

Oh, since we were talking about Kimchi in last few pages, here's Mrs' favorite.  I really quite like this brand, not sure whether it is easy to get from where you are(there must be a million different variation), but this particular one is not spicy at all and has good flavor.

Outrider helps with dinner prep, food use is gonna be one of my most favorite knife use of any given day.  Victorinox Steel is definitely perfect for the job.

Btw, the cast iron skillet should be ready pretty soon and am looking forward to using it.
