I hope this isn’t the Bolster.

That seems more like a typo to me. Sounds like someone wrote "Bolster" when they should've written "Holster". "B" and "H" are right together on the keyboard.

I wonder why the Curl is not less at retail. If Leatherman was worried about Wave clones from China this seems like the perfect way to kneecap them.

except..the curl..without locking internal tools, its still worse than the Multiforce for instance.

What I'm hopping for though, is that the blade on the outside is also not locking...then I'll find it far more exciting.

I suspect that with the Curl coming along the days of the Wingman etc. might be numbered.

I have two hopes for the Curl:
1. That the price is the same or not substantially more than the Bond. (Less would be fine, too.)
2. That the outer tools are interchangeable with Wave tools, meaning that I can replace the file with a Wave saw.
If these hopes are fulfilled, I think the Curl will be a great light(-er)weight EDC replacement for my Wave.

Anyone have any news on the Curl

I can't wait for it to release so we can see if they did a good job on it like they did with the Bond :woohoo:

My Bond is brilliant, really looking forward to the Curl.

I thought it was to be released this month?

if the blade is locking I can say conclusively that it won't be done well..the reason to not have locking internal implements boggles my mind. All they had to do was cut off one side of the wave...and it would be 100% better than the Curl. Not amused..not at all. But if its not locking..then at least it is designed for EU markets.

I mean, probably also a matter of bottom lines and product differentiation.

Nice!!! It is a non-locking Wave without SE blade or saw, and a bolt-on pocket clip; sounds like a good "urban-edc" MT to me!!! :multi:

Also noticed that on already-production models for "bulk buying" they have the same price as LTG's web page; could it be that the Curl will be $79.95!?!?! :like:

I'm slightly interested in the Curl. It comes with the exact set of internal tools that I wish the Wave had to begin with. I already know that the first mod I would make would be to replace the file with a Wave's saw, assuming they are interchangeable.

I hadn't heard of that model.
I got stuck in a Camelbak Eddy once, that was rough.

Well, the blade locks and the tools don’t. The first Wave was that way. That’s why I carried a Supertool instead. Then again I do use multitools really hard.

I just wonder who this is targeted for since it’ll still be illegal in a lot of places.

Is it possibly just a case of removing a few manufacturing processes to keep the production cost down?

I would suppose that's their reasoning.

But I don't get that personally, given how it's only marginally less expensive than the current Wave+ model. However, I see the Curl as a really good design as well, as it has an awl, and shaves a lot of weight and thickness by ditching several tools from the Wave.

I'll toss out that a market audience might just be people that don't want a full Wave. I grabbed my wave second hand (an OG that was messed up and I warrantied for a new one), and whilst I really liked it I found myself looking at the serrated and saw blades and thinking... well it's nice to have I guess but I don't need that at all...

This route the tool is a little more accessibly priced, more EDC friendly in terms of weight and dimensions and comes tapped with a deep carry clip, where as with the Wave you have to buy the accessory separately.

If I didn't have a wave and was looking to buy that kind of tool, tbh I'd choose the Curl and save some money to spend on something like a bit extender.

Ah, I didn't say they were passing those savings on to the buyer though. ;)

Maybe, but the cost savings isn’t enough unless they intend to raise the price of the Wave.

I still think the knife should have been a slip joint. Even though I wouldn’t have a use for it I think it would sell really well in the UK and Europe.

Honestly the Bond and Curl are basically retreads. I guess it’s too much to hope for a new design that isn’t overpriced from this set of designers.

Not coming with a pocket clip is going to be a disaster  for leatherman...asking ppl to pay $10 more for a 5c piece of metal....yea...going to leave a bad taste in ppls mouths. The wave clip is half that and also comes with a lanyard.

Sorry Max; please, do not take it like that. I was just kiddin' with Poncho in the other thread (https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,87821.msg2266599.html#msg2266599) and I told him about the price difference (he would have preferred $69, and I told him that maybe the price was 'cause it might be because of the clip). So, don't be mad with LTG and/or me!! :surrender:
If judging by the "leaked pictures, it will come with clip preinstalled! :tu:
