Giveaway! 2 bushcraft knives - 2 winners!
on: January 18, 2021, 11:13:45 AM
Hi everyone.

I wish to keep this GAW in the UK, as I want to help my ‘local’ community.

This GAW is intended for the less fortunate MTO members among us who would love to have a bush-crafter for their knife drawer.

Just add your name to the list, copy and paste the list to add your name and keep it in one post etc...

All MTO members are encouraged to vote for the participants as to who they wish to win. Just add your vote next to participant name who you think is most deserving, this way the community gets to decide who wins. Copy and paste as you go please...

Highest number of votes wins and gets to choose his knife.
Runner up wins the second knife.

GAW ends 31st January 2021 midnight GMT.

Pictures...

This is a Casstrom no.10 in stainless steel (14c28n). It is a custom build that I did a few months back. Black canvas micarta with blue liners, brass Corby bolts and hand stitched side carry leather sheath. Edge (scandi grind) has been sharpened and polished on waterstones.

Next up is a Real Steel bushcrafter II. D2 blade steel, scandi grind, coyote brown G10 handle with kydex sheath. Sharpened and polished on water stones.

Fantastic GAW and prizes.  Best of luck to you all.  Dexter, thank you very much for this.  Those are some sweet knives that I hope the new owners will get a lot of memories from.

It can take a little while for some members to find the GAW.  Not every member checks this board.  I do hope to see a lot of folks get in on this.  These blades look amazing and the polished edge you did is very well done.  Either knife should be a wonderful companion for the field or back yard bushcrafting.

True, true...  I’m probably a little impatient.
I look forward to them going to good homes.

Come on MTO.  If you've been thinking about giving bushcraft a try or wanted a good knife for some backyard or shed or wherever you can have some knife fun you've got to enter.

We don't all have space outside but that doesn't mean we cannot have a little knife fun.  These are some great knives in great sheaths.

Very generous of you.   Come on my fellow Brits, surely there are some of you out there that don't have a bushcrafter knife, who always wanted one but couldn't justify the spend.

I can't understand why no one is entering in this giveaway (for some of the other giveaways I can see why, but here?).

Or maybe no one wants thinks of himself as "less fortunate", and no one wants to nominate somebody else for the same reason...

I can think of a couple of members who deserve one of these beauties, but I don't know if they would like to be seen as "less fortunate", if you know what I mean.

Both knives are great bushcraft knives, I own 3 Casström Woodsman knives and they are great, a N°10 has been on my wanted list for some time now, and this one with its mods looks just beautiful .

I have no experience with the Real Steel knife, but I've read lots of great reviews about it, and looks like it has an awesome value/money (getting it for free in a giveaway is the only way to beat its normal value/money).

Thank you so much for this generous giveaway  :hatsoff:.

Sure hope people start to enter soon...

The Real Steel in D2 should make for an awesome knife.  I had that on my list for a while but having got some other nice fixed blades it has stayed on the "list".  I have seen some really great reviews on it and have also read some great things about it.  What makes it really awesome is that its offered in a GAW.

TG, I also thought some might feel awkward about "less fortunate".  I see it as funds being allocated elsewhere as funds should rather than on sharp and shiny things.  I also see it as the state of things can mean less hours at work or loss of work altogether.  Maybe a move or a bill on the vehicle came up.  We all experience our funds needing to be allocated elsewhere.

Maybe you feel you don't qualify?  Only you know your situation so add your name to the list.

I do hope if anyone felt awkward please don't.  I know Dexters GAW is meant to be fun and see these wonderful knives go to good homes.

Have fun and good luck to you all.

Thank you my friend  :hatsoff:.

Those are some pretty knives you're giving away. And like I said, I especially like the work you did on that Casström, that's one sweet looking knife :tu:.

This is a great GAW and VERY generous (thanks Dexter  :salute: )

I would add my name (and then a nomination) but I live in a suburban town in London (think concrete jungle)  ::)

As such, I have no real need for one of these lovely pointy things and no justification for carrying one

I'm happy to be on the list but don't want to deprive someone who is more "outdoorsy" than me  :dunno:

So, upon reflection (having talked myself into it) and to get it underway and encourage others  :pok:

1) SurgeUK
They don't like it up 'em!

Did I read it wrong then?  :dunno:

I thought we had to nominate ourselves and then another once they had self nominated  (sorry if I goofed  :-[ )

So, in the spirit of UK Union etc. I nominate Gareth, from the north of the UK

If you wish to participate in the GAW then add your name to the list.

All other MTO members who wish to vote for any particular participant may do so by adding their own name next to said participant.

Thus the community will be effectively be choosing the winner.

Example...

1) SurgeUK (add your name here to vote, etc,)
2) Magentus ( as above, etc)
3) Wspeed
4) Gareth

Sorry if first post was not clear
