Day 52

Today my daughter delivered my first grandchild, a girl. So off to town I went. I know you're thinking hospital, but actually to the gun shop. When I got back home I used the swisschamp small blade to open her new Henry .22 rifle. The paperwork, showing it was purchased on the day she was born, is now in the box.
Her plastic sak toy, my first swiss army knife and camper with bears on it are already here!

 :woohoo:
Congratulations  :drink:

Great way to start her off, and early to boot!

About 7/8ths of the way through the challenge. Impressive showing by all involved.
Who is going to suffer from SwissChamp withdrawal once the challenge has ended?

I've become completely accustomed to carrying the Swiss Champ.

Withdrawal....?  Maybe.   :dunno:

Day 21 of 30 (Stack Challenge)

Used the metal saw to cut off the point of a small nail to make a very small punch. The "punch" ended up not working for what I was trying to do, but it was worth a try (and a challenge photo).

Never replaced scissors springs, but I'd say to use some tape to keep it a litttle closed and place the spring in a flat surface. Then, gently press down the scissors over the spring until they fit. Use some pliers (with the grips covered, so as not to scratch them) to press the spring firmly in place.

Good luck!

  :tu:
Thank you for the suggestion, pfrsantos.

In case it helps out anyone else, I ended up using a very small pair of pliers to compress slightly the curve at the base of the spring so it would slide easily into the hole in the scissors.

Then I inserted a small nail into the spring curve and hammered it slightly from both sides to expand it again.

I'm thrilled to have a fully-functional Champion "a"! I can't wait for the Challenge of Champions next March!

...any belt pouch recommendations for these big guys?   :salute:
Guess I'll check the Vic mother site first..
I was looking for a pouch with a clip, not a belt loop, so went with the Swiss Army Large Leather Knife Clip Pouch, Victorinox 33256 & 4.1099.23. Less than $10 on eBay. Fits up to a Swiss Champ. The extended Champs won't fit in it though.

I use a leather Zermatt sheath from victorinox. I carried it daily, climbing in and out of gun trucks and  lots of rough use through several desert vacations. Other than some scuffs it's still functional.

Day 53/60 and some tea bag retrieval with the pliers. I've a funeral to go to later so I guess that'll be it for today.

Pouches? I have 3 Vic style pouches which fit SC's. The current brown leather pouch (item 4.0535) was gifted to me by Mags (thanks Mags !   :hatsoff:). I prefer them to any other way of carrying my SC.

Hi Tony here's my three leather SwissChamp compatible Vic pouches. The red has a snap closure whilst the black and brown have velcro closures. For reference the product number is

Red is 4.0521.5
Black is 4.0521.3
Brown 4.0535 style seems to be discontinued

Just checking I do also have the nylon pouch 4.0545.3 if you'd like a comparison pic of that? It fits my Wenger EvoGrip 54 for those rare occasions when I get that off the shelf.

That is just such a beast Old Lefty ! Both of them !

I should reckon with both on your belt there'd be some real risk of trouser "sag"

I've stopped using my belt dangler and just drop the S'champ into my front pants pocket.

I think the Chuck Yeager challenge in December is going to seem very strange......

That wouldn't work for me at all !
I can do back pocket with caddy, or belt pouch maybe. It's such a weird format (like a brick) that I'm actually looking forward to the end of the challenge  :pommel:
