Tell me Montana.  Do teachers still make the kids draw an outline of their hands and color it in to look like a turkey?  We had to do that.  It got a little embarrassing once we were old enough to drive to school.  The class Thanksgiving party made it worth it.  Chek cola, candy corn, and orange colored circus peanuts.  I almost forgot the candy cigarettes.  Anybody remember those?  Mmmm.  Best wishes.  G

As a teacher, I want to thank you all for reminding me of the hand-turkey. For me that was a lot of years ago. Let's see, if I was about 7 or 8 that would be... never mind, I was middle school Math teacher for 10 years and even I don't want to mess with numbers that big. Made a big change this year to a classroom with 8 kids with autism, all under 10. I think they will enjoy making some turkeys. Scissors and glue are always a big hit.

The hand-turkey had a near relative.  The hand dog head.  In case you never did a hand dog head, you draw the outline of a thumb that you have crooked over.  Then you only have to put in the ears and a smiley mouth, eyes, etc.  Be sure to post a photo of some hand-turkeys if the kids make some good ones.  Best wishes.  G

I will definitely post some pics, with a favorite SAK as a decoration. Could you possibly post a picture of a dog hand? I can't quite visualize it.

Since you're a teacher, I will.  In the interest of education.  I added an ear to the outline.  Best wishes.  G

Did Victorinox ever make translucent black 91mm scales? Or someone else?

Friend Enginears left us this link about the colors in an earlier post.  There is an onyx.  Looks a little chocolatey.  Seems like someone posted a photo of translucent black scales with the square digital clock on the side.  I hope this is sufficiently transparent.  Best wishes.  G

Thank you for the link, much appreciated. The onyx looks promising. I’ll hunt around for some more pics now that I know what I’m looking for.

There are a few more colors than the ones listed on that link.  I think friend Barry left a good photo of the translucent gold ones and I have a different green example.  Might as well post an old photo of the green one.  Why not?  Best wishes.  Gary

It's See Through Sunday again.  Yes, I am doing my Sunday chores a day ahead.  Might have to do other things tomorrow.  I ran out of Sad-SAK candidates, so I haven't posted to that Daily Thread for awhile.  Lots of standing in line at the types of stores that sell plastic snowflakes, colored wrapping paper, and such.  I got behind two gals who spent $153 at Dollar Tree.  Bags and bags of stuff that will all be thrown out in a couple of weeks.  It took forever to get them out of the store.  One would keep walking back to the shelves and bringing more stuff.  One register working at checkout and the red-faced girl who was working it had no hope of relief.
Lots of the self-checkers at Walmart won't accept cash.  At certain times anyway.  I asked the woman at the entrance to the bullpen a question.  It went like this.
IMR; Any of these check-outs take cash?
Employee;  All of them.  Cash.  Debit cards.  Credit cards.  Gift cards.  Electronic payments.  It will take anything you have, sir.
IMR;  How about an IOU?

She didn't know how to answer that one, but looked at me like I was a nut.  An older lady was checking out and listening to our conversation.  She just cracked up.  Keep em smiling.  Best wishes.  G

Three lovelies, Echo.  I had one Buck 112.  It was a wood and brass type.  Didn't have a thumb stud or a nail nick.  I liked it much better than the 110.  I might still have the sheath somewhere?  Best wishes.  G

Very attractive.  I never owned a lighted SAK.  That reminds me.  It is about time I got a better flashlight.  Might have to look around at Walmart and see what they have.  Best wishes.  G

I have several SAKs equipped with light and I quite like them. Before I had one I thought the light is only gimmicky addition but after using them I found them very practical.

How is the house hunting coming along?  I looked at your photo to see if there were any foil wrapped chocolates, but I think everything was some sort of tree ornaments.  Best wishes.  G

Hi Gary (sorry for delyed response - work etc  ::)) House hunting is now paused until after Christmas as we'll both be in Italy visiting family. No foil wrapped goodness here as Mrs Surge does not approve  :twak:

The ornaments are awl horrendously expensive glass type things from across the last 30 years or so (except one, which is from my childhood home)

Hope awl's good with you and yours?  :salute:

Very pretty.  I was looking for some sort of prop to use in a see-through photo just a few minutes ago.  I sorted through pile number 47B and found a package.  A package?  It felt like....?  It was.
I had been getting very tired of my tattered tablecloth.  I had already turned the old one around to get the best end forward.  The package was a new one.  I must have bought the thing....?  I don't know.  Could have been a year ago or more.  I will take it out sometime today and put it on the IMR table.  If I don't lose it first.  I had no idea it was there.
Since you asked, Christmas is just me and the assorted creatures that come to visit every day.  And all night long if I feed them.  Sounds a little sad, but I am pretty well satisfied with how things are.  I got a Christmas card last year, but so far this year nothing.  One of my friends here at MTO sent me some cookies and things last year.  Also I got a new Vic and an old Kick last Christmas from members.  It's a special sort of place.
Let's see.  A new tablecloth and a couple of see throughs.  Best wishes.  G

Fantastic photos for today, y'awl! :like:

Things are okay in the Mittens, now that the recent cold snap has run its course. And my Christmas will be much like Gary's. But that's okay; I prefer a quiet holiday.
