Love the color on that SAK

Really liking that green alox.

Thank you  :hatsoff: and :iagree:

This is the 2017 LE green Cadet. I'm still kicking myself for passing on the matching green Pioneer.

At the time I foolishly decided to only buy the yearly limited edition coloured Cadets. That resolution backfired spectacularly when Victorinox in their wisdom decided to discontinue the limited edition Cadets.

This is such a typical example of improvised can opener usage in my experience, and why it is one of the most popular tools for me...

I don't have the need to open cans too often, but when I do, it is the only reasonable tool to use, and it does an excellent job.

Apart from it's primary function, the can opener is a versatile light and thin pry and scrape tool (not to mention flat and Phillips drivers as well), and diverts a lot of abuse away from my main blade. The beefier flathead is also useful, but sometimes too thick to get under something or into an opening, or sometimes too blunt to scrape with.

 :like:

I'm preaching to the choir here... Everyone in this forum knows this already!  :D

I agree! I’ve flirted with the idea of modifying the tool by grinding off the “blade” part to make a longer reach 2D Philips/small flat head. But I find it very useful as-is as a handy scraper-poker-prying all-around useful gizmo, as you said.

Day 06:

In honor of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, here’s a shot of my Pioneer X with a piece of decking from USS Texas (BB-35), which supported the landings with 14” naval gunfire.

For those who might not be aware, USS Texas is the oldest battleship still afloat, the only remaining dreadnought battleship in existence, and the only remaining battleship that served in both World Wars. :salute:
Current SAKs: Explorer, SwissChamp, Handyman (modded), Climber, Super Tinker, Tinker, Woodsman (modded), Electrician, Pioneer, SwissTool, Executive, Ambassador, Champion Plus
Current Leatherman tools: PST, Original Wave, Wave, Wave+, Blast, Bond, Curl, Style PS, Micra

Day 6/30: Alox Bantam - Combo Tool

Today, I used my Alox Bantam combo tool to disassemble my Knipex Cobra XS pliers for routine maintenance/ cleaning. While it might not be the most common use case, the combo tool is able to get into the small space in the plier joint to just push the notch to disassemble.

Thanks to this challenge, I’ve gone a bit alox-crazy (for me, anyway). An alox Classic should be waiting for me when I get home from work, and I ordered a set of threaded pivot barrels so I can mod my Pioneer X.

Grapes? Hope the SAK got a good washing afterwards!

And just like that...you have me wanting some Haribo candy.

Another great day, y'awl! :tu:

Day 6

Here is the (for now, anyway) eponymous SAK.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

It's shown with a couple of props that are appropriate given the day's anniversary. The electrician's knife below is indeed from WWII. It bears a faint but still legible "U.S.N" stamp on the mark side cover.

Day 6:

I’m switching things up today, and using a slightly different custom alox that I call the Timberbeast. It would probably be called an Electrician Plus X if Victorinox were so inclined to manufacture this little beauty.

I mysteriously woke up this morning with a blood blister on the inside of my thumb, so the electrician blade was used to relieve the pressure.

That’s a nice TL-29. I still have my father-in-law’s Army issued TL-29 from the Korean War. Great knives.

Day 7

I'm carrying the electric yellow LE Pioneer X from 2023 for the first time today. It is very yellow, which is very practical if you need something with high visibility for hiking or camping...  :D

It had the honour to open a package containing an old cross Elinox Pioneer, which will feature somewhere down the line.

My Cadet didn't get the use I wanted it to get today.  Hopefully this weekend I  can put it to more use.  Instead, it was my office companion and kept my coffee company.

Time to turn on the AC, so had to change the filter first.  Pioneer X helped with the screws to open the cover.
