Day 20

The Nuke of Edinburgh has a lock for the bit tray. First open the inline Philips, then take the tray out.

Day 22

I don't carry more than one exact anything, except keys.  I do have a couple of backup keys in my wallet, in case I lock myself out.  I have more than one SAK of the same model, but don't EDC them.  I carry one knife, period.  I don't carry a backup knife, let alone one of the same model.  If I carry a Leatherman then I don't carry a knife at all.
The only other thing, besides keys, I use every day that I have the exact same model are a couple of cheap flashlights.  I keep them handy and use them every day.  I don't generally have them in my pocket.  I use batteries in them that don't have enough zip to run a trail camera.  Rarely new batteries, so maybe one light is weak.  When that happens with one, I use the other.
Best wishes.  G

Day 21.

A bit delayed. Got tired of the computer and went hiking for rocks instead. The detector says metal other than iron, and the magnet seemed to agree on that at least. Ended up houling 42 kgs of beeping uncivilized rocks several km back to civilization. I need a new hobby... There better be something - anything!  ::)

Hope you got something good.

Day 21

Got this doohickey a couple weeks ago. It's a bubble level with a magnet and pivot so you can set your angle when freehand sharpening. Usually I just pop it on to double check my first could strokes, then take it off.

Day 22

I have lots of Leathermans that would fit this mini-challenge, but I have been trying to stay away from them so I can play with my lesser used tools.  Here are some Gerber Prybrid Utility knives.  The first two are Prybrid Utility Clips, and the second two are Prybrid Utility (one with a clip from Esty added).  The loner is a Prybrid X who happened to be next to them, so I included it  :tu:

Naturally I took a different spin on the challenge.  Does that REALLY surprise anyone?  Here is what I thought.  I took it that some members carry more than one of the same item as an EDC.  Not how many you have.  How many you carry.  Like the long time member who carries 4 or 5 Bic lighters.  Or the friend who carries multiple little plastic ducks.
Maybe if you carry one Soldier model and have four score others at home that makes for a better challenge.  Or a bunch of the same type very nice small Leathermans.  So, maybe I'm wrong with what I thought.  Wouldn't make any difference to me anyway.  I carry a GAK every day and don't have an identical back-up.
I commend the members who are playing along with the mini-challenge.  Some great photos.  Best wishes.  G

Day 22

I have multiples of many tools and sometimes carry two of the same. Knipex pliers vibes to mind as two are often needed when working on with piping or turning nuts and bolts. For this picture I am including three of my favorite Spirit model multi-tools. One is well used and a new to me of of the well known auction site. The other are also new to me,  from same site,   but in as new/not used condition.  I try to keep them as backups should I ever lose one. I have doubles for the XBS variant too.

Given the rule being a little stricter than that I carried two Juice S2 today and in fact I realized later on that I had the red Signal in my bag and the coyote one in the car tool pouch!

Don't fret about it, Barry.  Lots of members are doing catch-ups.  I have to say that my understanding of two-is-one is like M47mu74nt.  Two knives, or two bladed equivalents, or two ways to start a fire.  Something like that.
Is the challenge any worse for the different ways that the members choose to fulfill it?  I don't think so.  It is a good challenge however you take it.  Lots of good photos and comments.  That's the important part.
There is quite a lot of wiggle room in the July 25 challenge as well.  Do you want to bet that different members take it to mean different things?  Looking forward to it.  Hope you are too.  Best wishes.  G

Today's duties are the direct result of a recent discussion on 74mm knife slips.  While I do make some slips with some craft leather or leather remnant pieces from the craft store,  I really like the older tooled pieces.  I found this old leather purse on the eBay. With the note "Needs Repair".  I said nope, needs deconstruction.
As a single sheet of 8x10 tooling leather will go for around $12-$15.00,  I was certain that I could get plenty of good leather from this old bag.

I missed lots of good posts and I couldn't post since I didn't have a good signal while we were out in the East Texas woods visiting family.

Day 20

Two of my favorite coffee mugs.  The Cheshire cat mug was a gift from mom and the dragon one was a gift from my wife and kids.

Two is One, One is None
There are some EDC tools that become such an extension of yourself, you just can't imagine being without them.

And as life has taught us "Whatever can go wrong, will go wrong". And I wouldn't like to be without some of these trusty tools that I've gotten fond of.

For me, that distinction falls to three trusty Victorinox companions: the Compact, Pioneer, and Multiclip.

Zeno,
Whatever It Takes..  Fix It.

Day 22
I decided to stick with tools where at least one of the two is in pretty frequent use.

SAKs
- Pioneer X - kitchen SAKs - rotated frequently
- Voyageurs - one is almost always pcket carried.  I discovered model after discontinued so have to have two in case something happens to one.
- Yeoman - one is in my edc sling bag.  I fell in love with this model right around the time it was discontinued, so I bought them when I could find them.  I have given a couple away to unfortunate souls like me who fell in love with them but couldn’t get them
- Farmer X - favorite outdoor SAK so one is in my day hike pack and one in my outdoor cook kit
- Spirits - tool I grab whenever I want a plier based multitool

Flashlights
- Reylight Pineapple Mini - one is usually in the pocket, right next to the voyageur
- HDS Rotary - both are frequent users with one on the side table and one use to be daily pocket carry , but is now in my edc sling bag instead of pocket.
- Mateminco CSF-04 - one is on every keychain that way if I leave my house I know I have at least one flashlight with me.  This is the flashlight that I have frequently given as a gift to people who aren’t into edc.  Paired with a SAK classic, even people who don’t carry items are usually willing to carry them and quickly realize the utility.

This is how I usually think as well, which I why I tend to have a SAK and flashlight on my keys, in my pocket and in my bag.  This way I’m guaranteed to have two and sometimes have three.
