This is how I usually think as well, which I why I tend to have a SAK and flashlight on my keys, in my pocket and in my bag.  This way I’m guaranteed to have two and sometimes have three.

Some of us may think this is a MTo philosophy!
For me, this is how I was raised.
My grandfathers vegetable farm, we had a picking knife on the cart, in the basket and you better have one tucked in your belt.   That way if grandma came out to help with sweet corn, she knew where a knife was in the cart. If not there a backup was in the basket.

On the farm I worked, we had three tractors, different vintages of OLIVERS, each had a mounted tool bin. Each bin was outfitted identical, fencing pliers, wrenches, knife, slip joint pliers, extra hitch pins, grease gun, spare tube of grease and on and on.  You took the tractor out, you had better checked that bin. If not there, it was on a bench, or you took it from the other tractor, likely that person forgot to put it back…

Same for me. I have two body bags. Outfitted similarly, not identical but the same. I also, have sharps in my pocket now as well, 2, sometimes 3.

The my car console and my truck console both are fitted with a large MT.  So not uncommon, I will always have 2 with me, and more often 3.  And if my truck, I have a full compliment of hand tools as well.

Being prepared was instilled at a young impressionable age.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

I need a new hobby...
Rock hunting is a fascinating hobby. It could also get me off my ass and outside!

My post shows a KNIPEX Cutix which is a utility knife.
:like: Hope you'll consider joining the Utility Knife Challenge in December!

Day 19:
Camo scales and PE OHO blade...

Here are two identical SAKs and some identical bolts, nuts, and washers.
Are those Tourists or Sportsmen?

The single most collected SAK model I have is the 93mm Alox Farmer, a total of 82 as of today.
And I thought I had quite a few Alox Bantams. You clearly have me beat! :surrender:

Got this doohickey a couple weeks ago. It's a bubble level with a magnet and pivot so you can set your angle when freehand sharpening.
I could use one of those. And that's a pretty sweet Paratrooper! Not that I'm biased or anything...

Two of my favorite coffee mugs.
Green Wenger...more

More great stuff for today, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 22

There are a couple-few cases in which I have multiple carriers. Alox Bantams are a good example.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I awlso have multiple Opinels that see use, particularly these No. 6s.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

And it seems appropriate that today was the day I got needle sticks in both arms! :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

DAY 22

Today my team and I were run ragged by our glorious leaders who, quite simply, couldn't organise the proverbial in a brewery  :bnghd:  :megaslap:

I had planned to take a pic' of my work EDC (O/G Surge & "official issue" lock knife) Thus showing that I have two bladed and pointy things with one (the lock knife) used for dirty work such as opening bags of bush-meat etc. and one for nicer less awlful things  :-\

However, due to the aforementioned lack of planning (or business as usual) by those in their ivory towers this didn't happen (as taking pointy things to a prison is verboten)

Therefore, having not long got home, I decided to collect my only doubles together for a quick revised option.

They are; 2 SOG Micro ToolClips, 2 Spartans & 2 Alox Bantams.

Once again, great work awl  :salute:
They don't like it up 'em!

Day 22.

I have to admit defeat in this mini-challenge. The only thing I EDC two identicals of are my socks. And I don't even get that right always... And they aren't tools, and hardly carried.

I do have duplicates, multicates or backups of various tools and parts but they are not EDC. And usually kept in different locations. Anyway, here is a picture of a headlight I have many of. It is inexpensive, it keeps going for hours and hours, and it has great light for work. Over the years I've only broken one which is a way better statistics than other headlights around here.

And, in the spirit of this mini-challenge, if I actually go somewhere where I need a headlight I will bring two. Mostly for batteries in case one goes empty but also as backup.

I had to admit that the only duplicate things I carried EDC were some backup keys.  I posted some flashlights myself, since I do use either one or the other.  I rarely am in possession of more than one at a time, and then only at night.  I guess we are just boring?  Best wishes.  G

Sorry to hear about being ran ragged, but at least your home now.
Some of us may think this is a MTo philosophy!

Being prepared was instilled at a young impressionable age.

The preparedness mindset is a learned habit that if your lucky get instilled before something happens.  For other less fortunates it is learned after not being prepared for something unexpected happening.  For me it is a little of both - my mother taught me early and then the habit was reinforced by some life events.

2 Alox Bantams.
Sorry to hear you've been run ragged, but you know I like those Alox Bantams! :2tu:

I hope all is well and it was just routine.
The lab work (right arm) was pretty routine. My doctor just wants to be sure that I didn't get any bad "souvenirs" as a result of my service. The left arm was for a CT scan. We'll know the results soon enough, but my doctor doesn't suspect anything too adverse.

It's not necessarily an exact duplicate but thought it would be worth entering in the mini challenge.

Day 22

I think the closest I come to carrying two of the same thing is handkerchiefs/bandanas. I generally try to keep one cleanish and leave one for dirtier things like blowing my nose. I started three or four girlfriends ago, when one decided she liked using mine, so I stuck a second in my back pocket. Today's example:

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The white one is usually the dirty one, since I can just bleach them and they're smaller. The larger more colorful one tends to get used to grab hot things, wipe my glasses, etc.

Other than that, I usually have two flashlights (one on my keys and my phone as a backup), and several multis/knives (Executive on keys, one or two in a pocket, a couple small/one piece tools tucked into my wallet). Two credit/debit cards in case one gets shut down because the bank flags it (has happened before).

As far as things that I have excessive spares of: I don't like to go below 3 or 4 Huntsmans in my collection at any time, but it's my favorite SAK to give away, so I keep having to replace them. Fortunately, it's not hard to find them well below retail in good shape.

When the Executive got discontinued, I think I bought 8 or 10, since it's my one real EDC multi. I've given some of them away awlso, I think I'm at 5 or 6 now. I've gotten a little stingier with giving them out since the supply is getting smaller and well used ones are going for about what new or near-new ones were a few years back. No picks since that section of the house is all torn up for rewiring right now.

Day 22

If I'm not doing a challenge, these are the three cutting implements I always carry with me.  My Minichamp is always on my keychain, my Super Tinker is in it's holster on my belt, and my Gerber EAB Light is always in my right front pocket.

I always have at least two flashlights on me, my Olight iMini2 and my Olight Baton 3.  If we're out and about there is always another one in our vehicles which makes it 3.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 23: I've slimmed down my collection quite a bit, so here are my remaining Benchmades. I'm glad I got one of the last Ritter Mini Griptilians made with M390. The Ritter blade is just so much better than the regular one, slices a lot better. Speaking of slicyness - that's probably why I like the Mini Bugout so much. Great size and such a lightweight knife!

Let's see here.... your papers say you are Mrs. Amanda Cypher... is that correct?
It seems you are having some difficulties with your husband?
That's right.  He has changed.  I don't even know who he is anymore.  He needs help.  (Muffled tears)
I'm sure we can do something.  Is he violent?  Does he hit you?
No, he never has hit me.
How about the children?
No, the children don't hit me either.
I meant... oh forget it.  Just what is the problem?
He's become an.... an.... (bawling)... an addict.
Well, that's treatable.  We can get him some help.  Don't cry, Mrs. Cypher.
It's not that.  He's addicted to pocket knives.  It started out slowly, then more and more.  I pretended to enjoy it with
him,  but it just got worse.  Our house is full of the things.  He has spent all our money... and... and (more bawling)
There, there, my dear.  Let me make a phone call.  Hello, Freddie.  Go to this address.  Pick up a couple of men and take along restraints.  He hasn't been violent so far, but who knows.....  Right.  Take him to Somber Acres Hospital, right away.
