Thanks guys 🙏  The Dr. said recovery will be slow, but I guess that's just the nature of this type of recovery.  I have no permanent damage to my heart, and it's actually pretty healthy.  I started concentrating on health and fitness (eating right and exercising) since early this year, so I am sure that helped a lot.  I urge everyone to do the same - try to eat more healthy meals and get in regular exercise.  It just might save your life someday  :tu:

Day 17:
Made a loop by hand around a pipe with this coated soft iron bar, but needed more grip to make the hook (used both Signal and pliers wrench)

@Rich_SD: that's awful! Please rest up, heed your doctors' advice, and make a fast and full recovery.

@Juan el Boricua: I have no idea if it's a fine or medium nib. If you can tell based on a handwriting sample, I'll post one.

@JonesE: I would go crazy if I was stuck ar a desk all day!

@Sos24: I hope your mail was better than mine (see below).

@Cypren: good thing you had a light handy!

@m47mu74nt: some pretty good bends there!

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 17

After a bunch of political propaganda, I thought I finally got some mail that I actually wanted.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Alas, it did not say "pay to the order of." It was a letter acknowledging receipt of my claim. Probably I won't see the funds until March. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Unfortunately, the rest of my posts in this challenge are going to be boring.  On Monday, I had a heart attack  :ahh and I just got home from the hospital.  I’m on very light activity for the next 2 weeks, so I probably won’t be using my Signal for anything. I might just drop out, but for now I’ll just do some catch up pics.

That is so awful , although very glad that you are still here and able to post.  Hope you have a full recovery

Made a pouch for a down vest, in the style of a dry bag.
Used Signal to push the angles tight and serve as heavy weight to keep fabric from fleeing away.

Thank you, Farmer, for the info. on the Zebra; decided to get online and found out it's .6mm, right between the fine and medium. I think it would make a nice writer so, I'm pondering about getrin' one to test out ( and use in any future fountain pen challenges!!!).

Day18

Needed a new charging cable; Blue took care of opening the package.   [ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

@Sos24: considering that's a TMNT pinball machine, pizza would have worked, too. :D

@Cypren: I think the little thing at right is a torch lighter, but it looks like a tiny impact driver!

@JonesE: no rain is expected here for a while. That's how I prefer it.

@m47mu74nt: is that a storage pouch for your vest? Turned out really nice! :tu:

@Juan el Boricua: I found the Zebra fountain pens (I also have a green one) at Dollar General. They're kinda cool. USB-C to USB-C charging, on the other hand, I'm not sure about.

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 18

I broke out some paracord. The camera didn't capture the color too well; it's neon yellow.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The small piece was cut with the serrated portion of the blade, and the larger piece was cut with the plain portion. I prefer the plain edge for paracord. The larger piece will be tied to my spare work locker key on Monday (or maybe Sunday).

Agree, but it is easy to get good pizza in my area.  It is hard to beat the BBQ in coastal NC, so I rarely pass when I go down there.

So what is the paracord project?

Day 18

Thanks again for all of the kinds words.  ❤

In the ARC thread, Cypren, myself, (and I think another) were throwing around the idea of buying a 2nd black ARC so we could use one and leave the other in pristine collectible condition.  I didn't initially do it because of the cost.  Well, lying in the ICU less than 1/2 day after my surgery, I figured "Why not?" and bought it over my iPhone.   At least it was 25% off.  It arrived today, and I opened the box with my Signal  :tu:

Day 18

Spent the day with an electrician rewiring my main panel and installing a subpanel for the workshop. I, uh, may have found myself in a situation where I needed to cut some 2x4s and only had one 15A circuit to use, meaning I could either run the miter saw or the dust extractor for the miter saw. This is going to take a while to clean up.

@jonesE @Farmer X : yeah a pouch to store the vest (winter jacket) compressed inside, sadly the inside of the pouch doesn't look as good as the outside: got a lot of trouble with thead tension.

@Sos24: I'll be slipping the paracord through the hole in the key and making a fob. That will allow me to keep the carabiner in my locker (thus reducing the risk of accidentally damaging paint). Bacon and eggs sounds good, but spinach...not so much.

@Rich_SD: I can hardly justify the purchase of one Arc, especially since the ST300 is such a great work carry for me.

@Cypren: hope the clean-up wasn't too bad! The insulated screwdriver is a great addition to a toolbox, too.

@m47mu74nt: Duplo, as in Lego? I assume you have small children and keeping the train rolling is of paramount importance!

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 19

It was a somewhat busy day for the Signal. The clock radio got a long overdue battery replacement, and the Signal was used to open the insipid tamper-resistant packaging and handle the battery compartment's screw. The blade was used to get into a bag of trail mix.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

LoopCutter and I spoke over the phone earlier today, and we agreed that Meijer's house brand has some great food. This trail mix is definitely different. Their chili mango trail mix is nothing short of fantastic.

Yes.  I take it you too are a Mystery  Ranch Fan?  But[instead of the new release, I decided to see if I could get a someone to part with the Unicorn 2.0, and I did; still with tags.

@Farmer X: I just had to fight with coin cell battery packaging today, too! It's the first time I've seen it not just sealed to the cardboard backing but with an actual heat-seal completely encompassing the battery itself that has to be delicately sliced open rather than just forced open with finger pressure. My wife says that apparently this was changed because children were swallowing batteries and poisoning themselves: this way, at least, if they swallow it, it's not going to leak any hazardous chemicals on the way out to the other end.

@Sos24: Clever use of the bottle opener. Meanwhile, I opened a bottle the other day using the pliers on the tool while cursing the lack of a fold-out bottle opener, and was sheepishly embarrassed when I realized that it's just located in a different place than most Leathermans.

Day 19

Spent some time trying to hang 16" Wall Control pegboard from what I thought were 16" spaced studs in the garage wall. After getting lots of weird readings from my stud finder, I finally resorted to just cutting open the drywall to look inside. Turns out that the studs are most definitely not even: some are doubled-up, some are spaced at 14 inches, some are spaced at 12 inches. Gave up on the plan to directly mount the pegboard to the studs and picked up some half-inch plywood to anchor to the studs and serve as a base for the pegboard.

I only know the carabiner doubles as bottle opener because Leatherman states it is a function of the Skeletool and I have tried it.  Not as easy as some but works.

Good use but sad that the studs aren’t properly spaced.
