Day 5:

I was making bacon and this stupid smoke detector started going off.  I took care of it.

So, it's a bacon detector. :tu:

DAY 6  Three Craftsman ratchets I bought circa Y2K.  The C clips that hold them together don't seem as robust as an old Proto I have, but they haven't failed.

That too was my first ratchet set, also bought around 2000. The 3/8” and 1/2” drive ones are still around, but after replacing the 1/4” under warranty 3 or 4 times, I got a Mac one (which I now know was overpriced for what it is, but it was the tool truck that came to our shop and I didn’t know any better).

Those raised panel craftsman ones make the nostalgia hit hard.  :like:

Another favorite screwdriver of mine :woohoo: the Klein 32305HD :salute: it is impact rated, ratcheting and has storage for quite a few double ended bits :dd:

This was my previous favorite Klein screwdriver until I bought the one that I posted yesterday  :D

the Klein 32305HD

Klein makes good stuff.  I added a few of their ratchety screwdrivers to my Amazon wish list yesterday.   I did not see the 32305HD on Amazon, but Home Depot has it.

DAY 6

I'm amazed at the variety of twisty-turny things on display this early in the challenge  :ahhh
I had no uses this morning and I was out awl day with Mrs Surge  :pok: :twak: Hence the glamour shot on the "Hog"

We ended up at a Cricket bar type thing (one of her work events) which was amusing as I don't like Cricket - I love it! (FYI - I don't like like it at awl)  :td:

https://sixescricket.com/location/fulham (venue)

I didn't take a ratchet with me as that would have been a bit odd on a evening out  :dunno:

That said, I should have done as there was a loose screw in the gentlemens ablutions that was driving me mad so; step up the Alox Classic

Stay safe awl  :salute:

Day 6:

Awkwardly used the snap on ratchet to tighten a loose window latch. A screwdriver would’ve been easier, faster, and more appropriate, but hey, this is a ratchet challenge!

Day 7

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
My SK11 SRD-220 arrived the same day as the Anex 316. But the dealer shipped only the SRD-220 without the extra bits 19mm bits and sockets. Asked for a refund on the difference in the price instead of sending it back. This minimal set only has the ratchet and a 16mm PH2 bit.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
It is a through-hole ratchet which adds no extra clearance (+0mm). But there is a little bit of plastic at the other end to prevent the C6 bits to go through it. While I don't think it can handle very large pressure to be applied without damaging, you can press against the bit in such situation.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
The handle goes a bit away at an angle.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]
It is very small and has a hole at the handle for you to keychain it. Photo with some of my tiny tools.

Day 6
"Twisty turny things"
Have I got an oddball for you...
This has been in my toolchest for almost 20yrs and never been used.

Why you ask: because it is so odd I don't have any sockets for it.

This is a 1/2 in female socket wrench. Yes you read that correctly, rather than the slim spline drive that some low profile socket wrenches have this one is a female square.
I looked years ago and found only a couple companies making sockets for this and they were prohibitively expensive.
How did I get it? Out of a scrap pile at work. I used to make fall protection, climbing and confined space equipment and we packed these to use with some of our man rescue winches and anchor systems that were built w/ matching sq drive bolts.
This one had some cosmetic blemishes so we couldn't sell it.

I keep it as a novelty.
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi

Day 6:

Here is a Star Wars R2 D2 bit driver that someone gave me for a gift.  (pictured with my Leatherman ratcheting bit extender)
It is a real shame that with so much space in this novelty tool, they could have easily made it a ratcheting tool.  I might have actually EDCd the thing from time to time if it had a ratcheting mechanism built in.  On the bright side, the bits are held firmly in place with a decent magnet inside the driver.  And it has that cool factor.  But with space for at least 6 bits and only getting 3, it is clear that they were more focused on keeping costs down.   :(

Nice set-up! :like:
I've discovered that the Penggong bits are perfect for the Victorinox ratchet. Go check my Penggong review. The bits are double ended but same length as regular bits. They don't stay in the Victorinox bit holder, but fit perfectly in the ratchet and the inline driver and extension.

Vessel ball handle ratcheting bit driver.
The end is a stubby. I love this thing.
One tiny thing is that the sockets are deep, so I use long bits for it.

I just discovered this one yesterday. Very nice 2 in one.

But I like using long bit instead of having a long extender shaft taking a short bit. But that can be done with the stubby part only.
