This counts as can opening, right?
Absolutely!

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 10

Carhartt tags had to be removed again. The Opinel got the call this time.

I was going to buy another graphic T-shirt, but I figured a long-sleeved hooded T-shirt might be more practical in a warm rain. Naturally, the camera didn't capture its color very well. :crash:

I have come to really appreciate the Carhart products. Value for rugged durable products.

Even my waist bag and a crossbody rig are well made.

Jackets, Vests, Bibs awl stood up to my construction gig for several years.  And look yet today. Almost 10years.
I have set aside my jeans I shrunk out off and know adopted their canvas work pants for chores and they look good enough for casual outings as well.   I am. Is betting these items may just out last this oldster.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 9

This is one of my favorite versions of the Buck 110, the 110 Hunter Sport.

Unlike the slim versions, the 110 Hunter Sport boasts the hand-filling dimensions of the original.  It’s much lighter, however, thanks primarily to an aluminum frame and bolsters.  It also features (OD green) canvas micarta slabs.

Mine has S30V steel, which is a nice upgrade over 420HC, though it looks like the latest incarnation has gone to S35VN.

The pocket clip is a good addition, as I much prefer pocket clips to belt sheaths.

I’m pretty ambivalent about the Torx screw construction, but it could prove handy someday.

I appreciate the dual thumb studs to allow for OHO.  However, my example is pretty stiff.  I think this illustrates that designing and building an effective OHO knife is more than just slapping thumb studs on a 2HO design.

Day 9

One of the best knives out there.

I have the orange one as a travel carving knife! I got it so I wouldn't have to use my parent's dull knives to carve on holidays anymore.

And then we bought a house and we host all the holidays now. Still take it if we do a vacation where we're going to be cooking in a strange kitchen.

Can you tune it by adjusting the screws?

Have not tried this, but would not be optimistic.  It feels like a spring pressure issue rather than a pivot-too-tight problem.

Day 11

After yesterday, decided to open a "normal" can. It's not the best can opener, but it works. You have to choke up a bit since it's such a long distance from handle to tip, and it is a bit of a mangler. Would not want it as my main CO, but I've had worse. You wouldn't starve on a deserted island with it and a crate of cans, and it's fine as a backup.

Just a quick check-in for me today, as I'm tired and likely will have to go to the VA tomorrow. The pictured book may be my sign.

I got weird bug on Friday that did a number on me.  So much so that I took a 5hr nap on Friday, and then slept an additional 8hrs over night.  I don't think I've slept that much in forever.  Guess it was my body's way of telling me I needed some rest.  Didn't have a choice but to listen this time.  Still felt a bit out of sorts on Saturday but better than Friday.  Finally feeling about 90% better today.  Time to play catch up.

Day 9

Day 10

Used the can opener to open a can of bean.  I'm much better with the Wenger can opener than any other can opener.

I also felt good enough to try chopping some wood so I used the can opener as a scribe to mark where I wanted to cut this log.

After a few logs though I was feeling worn out again.  Guessed I pushed a bit too hard too soon.

Day 11

This Spartan Lite really needed some cleaning and oiling.  Half the tools were really tight.  Finally got all of them moving well.

Only the inline Phillips and the flat head don't have a good closing snap but I'm still working on them.  Gave the blades a quick sharpening for now but I'm going to take more time during the week to give them a proper sharpening.
