If you are worried about sharpening the scissors you could grind the spring to allow them to open all the way.

Well, I'd have to get to the spring first...

But, I have managed to do that with the precision flat driver from my Charge AL. Used it to pry the spring up from the captured groove in the scissors, and I'm able to fully open them. So, that answers my sharpening concern.  :tu:

I'll have to make a video about this though, I think it'd be useful for some folks.

BO Spirit X reporting.
(Image removed from quote.)
Is this a newer/older Model ? As I understand it the BO versions are made to accommodate military usage with incorporated crimpler in the plyers.

Wish Victorinox offer users an easier way to maintain their tools rather than the need to send the device to their factory. By using pivot barrels and torx screws rather than pins, they would only need to release the optimum torque settings and we'll all be happy bunnies. If they are concerned with possible flood of servicing then maybe shorten the period of guarantee instead of Lifetime and add reasonable restrictions.

Are you sure it's the Spirit X? I haven't seen a non CC BO Spirit X, just the BO Spirit S.

Well, the loose pliers finally got to me. I'm going to send it in to Vic tomorrow and ask for it to be tightened. I'm marking it as sentimental and not to replace the tool, as I don't want to send in an RT and get a standard X back.

It sucks to have to be without it, as I'm keeping the second one in the drawer as a safe queen. I'm likely going to pick up a standard Spirit X as well to use while the RT is gone.

Has anyone here had experience with their warranty? I've read mixed reports of greatness and terribleness.

Can I join? I've been proudly using my Spirit RT since it first came out. I love it! I own the Leatherman Wave, Charge and a purple Xe6 but always come back to my Spirit. It feels so comfy in my little hands :)

Its a nice looking knife. There is a store near me that sells BO Swisstool and spirit with capcrimper. Swisstool with plain and serrated edges. Spirit with plain edge and scissors. Prize is a bit high for me though.

...........Prize is a bit high for me though.

Firstly, no disrespect for the OP, as it is a little off topic, just trying to help out.

There's a Sale for the SwissTool X ATM $49.60, enter Coupon Code UP10 to receive an extra 10% discount, International Shipping is $9.95. Shipping CONUS is negligible.

http://www.swissoutpost.com/site/product/knife/SwissTool.aspx

At this price, I just couldn't resist the purchase. My Order was despatched Yesterday yet to be delivered so I cannot comment further. If it is brand new then it would be the bargain of the decade but I suspect it is the "old version" with the red letterings on the Inch Scale as the current new version do not have that "red" which will wear out in time.

Now waiting for a similar bargain with regard to the Spirit.

While the Fuse is near and dear to my heart I doubt you will be more impressed with it than the Spirit. Both are great tools, but the Spirit has a better tool set and is made better in my opinion. I completely love both the Fuse and Spirit though. They both have there merits.
