Two new SAKs this week, a Compact and an Explorer, destined to be transformed into a Yeoman and a Climber shortly... The Explorer actually cost less (was under £20) than the Compact!

Hi Carlo,

Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope all's well.

Don't have any other name for it, so will go with Mountain rather than Backpacker variant.

The Wenger side of the collection is growing slowly, but I manage to pick up something occasionally.

Hey Karl,
second son arrived, so I don't have much free time now.
I think I bought just two knives in the last 6 months......still looking at the forum as much as I can, and at online auctions (buy I'm not buying anything, unless it is something I really want)
Now I realized I have too many duplicates.
I will post some of them for sale on the trade section of the forum

How much did it cost to have these serviced? Where you able to specify exactly what work you wanted done on these (and what *not* to replace e.g. the old style mag glass and Phillips on the Scientist)? Do they also give them a clean-up and lubrication at the same time? I have a few older SAKs that could do with a bit of TLC (not just new scales)...

Get in touch with Burton McCall - they're the UK distributor and will receive and inspect your SAKs to see if they can repair in the UK or send off for a service in Switzerland.

This just arrived... An Original Craftsman with the scaler instead of the pliers... square back tool phillips with can key... all cleaned, sharpened and pollished... Bottle opener was a bit bent... but nothing a slight hammering can't fix... May need some new scales though... still deciding whether to keep the old scales or not... all scratched up and chipped a bit sure give it its vintage look...

it seems the previous owner used it as EDC! It took a long time to wash and dry all the tools, fortunately they look unused.

Kind of a departure from the original swiss army knife. I just got this Wengerinox hunting knife on the bay for the opening bid of $25 with free shipping. It looks interesting, I believe that to be a roe deer embossed on the sheath which would have a different antler than those native to north america.
