Minus just some of those parts and add an inline awl and you have my variation of what I think would be the perfect SAK for me :dd:

Awesome disassembly Tom :salute: :like:

So, what's the plan?

Roughly something like this:
A bladeless 2 layer cybertraveller lite.

But maybe I should start a dedicated thread in the mod squad for this stuff

A Mountaineer Plus, more often known as a Modeler.  Mountaineer with the magnifier and inline Phillips added.  Another one of those discontinued 5 layer goodies.  Looks like it will be very handy.

I wish the Marlboro SAK was MS and WS instead of Fish Scaler and WS...so basically a Ranger with the phillips/mag layer...

Thanks JJ, me too.  😛   I seem to use the metal saw/file a little more than the woodsaw and certainly more than the scaler, so this one will get used.

These BNIB cousins just arrived . . .  :mail:

On the left in the red scales an Explorer Plus, and on the right in the ruby scales a Woodsman. Add a wood saw layer to a four-layer Explorer and you get a five-layer Woodsman.

Really digging the modeler and woodsman. Also like the Huntsman Lite...more for the phillips than for the light. I like hunting for the lesser-seen 91mm more than collecting every color of the same alox knife...though I support everyone's SAK addiction in whatever form it takes.

That particular woodsman is interesting to me though...I thought those all had the old gray mag glass with long phillips.

I got a swisschamp a while back also for parts...but after having that latest version of the metal file on my Ranger...I kinda feel like just putting the champ back together since my user champ has the older style file.

Anyway here's my grab for today. Wenger version  of a Mechanic, don't know the name
Got it as a pliers donor for a wenger build, but with these wengers getting rarer all the time I'm not sure if I wanna take it apart.

The other Wenger donor I have has:
locking main blade/nailfile
phillips/wrench
Openers
Scissors

Wanted to add pliers, ws and ms...so kind of a Victorinox swisschamp inspired build. I'm not a fan of the big Wengers with that super thick ruler/compass layer.

Regarding the v1 gray magnifier and long Phillips: Yes, the two go together. The switch to the larger clear-framed v2 and v3 magnifiers required a shorter Phillips to fit in the layer properly. Whatever my photos may appear to show because of perspective, I can assure you the Phillips in the v3 magnifier layers are, indeed, shorter than the ones with the gray v1 magnifiers. Not just in these Woodsman, but with two Scientist I also have with v1 gray frame magnifiers. The recent Explorer Plus with v3 magnifier has the same shorter Phillips as the two very new Woodsman shown in my photos. I should probably put together some photos of the matching Phillips for the three v1 (gray) magnifier frames and the three v3 (clear) magnifier frames. The Swisscard would be great for that!

I have yet to see in actual a v3 magnifying glass (6x, glass lens)... Is it the same size as that of v2 (5x, plastic lens)?

Yes same size, it is hard to tell them apart even side-by-side.

The "v3" glass pops out of the frame. Which is handy if you have to magnifya something while using scissors on it, for example. But i sont think it's meant to be popped in and out repeatedly.

Got these on Saturday.  A mountaineer and an alox SD. They came with a couple of other pieces that were not SAKs but it was too good a deal to pass up.
