Flea market deal :tu:
Inherited from a poor TSA smurfed owner.
(Image removed from quote.)

Read about the find here:
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=69291.0

Possibly my sister-in-law's. She lost two Swiss Champs to the TSA minions before she learned to quit carrying them in her purse. Still keeps one in her desk at work; a lot of times its easier to pull out the tool than call the janitor.
The seller told me he goes bidding on lot's at Amsterdam Airport.
So if she traveled there with a Champ in her luggage, but traveled back with it in her purse...

I do feel like it's got to hurt for the person who gets it confiscated though, so many nice tools, everytime a stressed owner...

I look at some of those "TSA" auctions and feel pain seeing some of the larger and discontinued SAKs that are relinquished at the checkpoints.

John
Not just SAK's...
Leathermans, Gerbers, SOGs...

I'm glad with this score, but can imagine the pain of having to part with a wonderfull tool, that sometimes has a lot of meaning/story/memories behind it.

I wonder what's next...
Having to take out shoe laces and your belt before you get on a plane?

You usually have to take your belt and shoes off before security scanning at airports these days, though obviously you can put them back on afterwards!

This Victorinox Champion arrived from today, along with this magnificent leather pouch that it fits perfectly. I wish Victorinox was still making them in this size!

This one is on the cusp of the Champion Plus introduction. It has all the current back layer tools: awl with eye, chisel, fine flat-tip, hook, and corkscrew with round handle mini-driver. It does not have the plus scales, and as a result the ball-point pen, nor does it have the straight pin hole found in not only current plus scales but standard ones as well. On the top side it has the gray frame v1 magnifier and long Phillips. Scissors are riveted and have the spring follower groove.

Its prior owner took very excellent care of this knife and its pouch. It is incredibly clean and the tools are immaculate showing zero use or wear. The scales do show a couple of pits from carry but they're not scratched or scuffed; they still have nearly all the gloss finish found on a new one. I had anticipated changing the scales on this one, but not for the time being. Got it for a truly bargain price. Goes alongside my newer Champion Plus now.

 :woohoo:

Congrats! I was also surprised at how thin they are!! Used calipers to do a comparison. It's 0.5mm thinner than an Alox Bantam. Takes minimalism to the next level. Enjoy. I put mine in a sleeve and it's as if it's not even in my pocket!

Created this Wenger Classic 10 from a Commander with new scales that have T&T slots.

Had two identical Wenger Commanders with red scales imprinted with marketing logos. Don't need two of them. This one was converted after finding some appropriate scales for it. The Commanders were BNIB (old stock) making this one like new.

EDIT:
The Commander that was converted into a Classic 10 has the older v2 style scales that mount to raised buttons with holes around them on the outer layers. When Wenger introduced the Evolution line, they changed to a different mounting scheme for the scales to accommodate their classical scales and the Evolution scales on the same knife frames. The conversion is documented here and shows how the v2 scales were removed and installed:

Glad to see many homeless SAKs find their new guardians.

Cleaning up this Cybertool I got in today. Pretty ok condition. Blades poorly sharpened but at least they didn't grind up the sides of the blades...should clean up. Had all the accessories with it including pin.

It's slightly older as it has the thicker main blade with no raised "spacer" in the liner.

Anybody know what color this is called? It's like a transparent copper, not tech scales style with metallic paint under clear scales,  but just clear copper/bronze looking scales.
