Congrats on the snags , Everyone!
Wednesday MAIL CALL!!!!!!!  :mail: = Arrived just in time for Wenger Wednesday!!!  :ahhh :woohoo:  :D

This one is a lil different..... even from what SAKwiki says ?
DAYHIKER/Highlander Variation
Variation #5 : The Dayhiker was a special model made exclusively for the US L.L.Bean company, and features a locking main-blade, toothpick, and tweezers.
BUT! , This one has "Eddie Bauer" inlaid scales ???
it also has the T&T & Locking Blade , but not a LL Bean advert ........  :tu:
Sooooooo , it is a Variation not listed on the Wiki ?
or someone swapped these advert scales on a LL Bean Limited Edition knife?

Anywho.... I oiled it up and I'm toting it today for "Wenger Wednesday".  :D  :2tu:

Glad to see many homeless SAKs find their new guardians.

Cleaning up this Cybertool I got in today. Pretty ok condition. Blades poorly sharpened but at least they didn't grind up the sides of the blades...should clean up. Had all the accessories with it including pin.

It's slightly older as it has the thicker main blade with no raised "spacer" in the liner.

Anybody know what color this is called? It's like a transparent copper, not tech scales style with metallic paint under clear scales,  but just clear copper/bronze looking scales.

Nice find!   :tu:

The color was originally onyx (translucent grey) , but it didn't prove to be stable and a lot of them turned to various shades of tan/brown. Appears to have something to do with their exposure to sunlight.

The wiki is wrong. The Dayhiker  (or Day Hiker) was made exclusively for Eddie Bauer, not LL Bean.

Here's an Oak Day Hiker.

Ahhhh. Well I like what the sun did to it. Kind of a unique color. I suspect my light blue Tinker may have just been a sapphire tinker at one point.

Might be a tad excessive for an office EDC though!  :D

Re suggested change to the wiki
 - When that change comes from CS the novice SAK collector, who is a WIKI editor thinks ... 'Of course, I'm on it'.  :salute:
Can we get someone to correct the wiki?

But then when you see the original page was created by none other than ICanFixThat
- That presents a bit of a dilemma  :o

However a quick dig around the net seems like CS is indeed correct.
I guess when you are creating hundreds of pages LL Bean could get confused with Eddie Bauer !!

So this is done now - Thanks lads.

For future reference *** here *** would be the best place to request a change to the wiki
- Certainly for me - as I don't always come here!!
Or ....... You could become an editor yourselves, of course  ;)

I've tried to edit a couple pages to add some knives that aren't in the Wiki (a couple Wenger in particular) and am denied editing even though I'm logged in. I thought that having an ID an password was sufficient, but apparently not. How can that get changed to allow it?

This more unusual Wenger Teton variant with locking blade, corkscrew and a very faint imprint of the hiker still remaining on the scales arrived yesterday. Blades and tools are in excellent condition. The faint imprint of the hiker makes me reluctant to refurbish the scales much. I've not seen these Teton variants much. The most common ones I've found have a non-locking serrated blade and a Phillips on the back. For the plain edge variants I've seen photos of non-locking and locking with Phillips, and locking with corkscrew (this one). One variant was also listed by Wenger as a Classic 141 (plain edge, non-locking with corkscrew). Confusing? It was for me for a while until I realized that every combination of serrated/non-serrated, locking/non-locking, and corkscrew/Phillips, with a small clip point blade and scissors had been called a Teton by Wenger. The clip point blade separates them from the Classic 14 (Traveler)/Evo 14, and Classic 16 / Evo 16, which have the pointed nail file opposite the large blade.

I've no idea if this really is that uncommon a variant, only that anecdotally searching for a Teton recently has produced quite a few of the serrated non-locking with Phillips, and very nearly zero non-serrated. This example is the locking blade Wenger equivalent of the Victorinox 84mm Small Climber. The variant with small clip blade and Phillips is the equivalent of the 84mm Salesman (a small Super Tinker).

You should contact enki about becoming an editor :tu: You have to be made an editor ;) That way some random person can't come in an do edits without any knowledge and it keeps someone who might want to get back at someone else or MTO in general from wrecking havoc on the wiki :D

IIRC, the Stgw 90 is the same as a SG 550 (??). That would make this the current service bayonet for the Swiss Army's current infantry service rifle. Impressive fixed blade knife, although not recommended for EDC, in all but a select few venues under only a few circumstances.  :)

Here's a crib sheet I did for 7-blade Wengers. Not going to swear its 100% accurate, but it includes my best available data.

I'm going to save that for future reference! Thanks for posting it. I believe the SAKWiki has some holes in it. In fairness, with some models, Wenger went wild with many variants, all marketed with the same name.
