SwissChamp, this one I'm not sure about. Has screw scissors with no hook, so pre '91. (I have a Huntsman with screw scissors and hook - confusing), doesn't have the crimpers on the pliers, metal file appears to be slightly different than the case-hardened one, so perhaps it's 2 generations old. Has plus scales with pen. Of course v1 gray may/long phillips. Not sure of the year on this one. But it was $23 so I figured...
I would disagree John/Jalind  :o
I'd say between 1988 (version 2 pliers) and before 1990 (when the 'v' file end pattern came out as opposed to the 'vertical' file pattern end on this knife!)  :tu:
The scissors are screwed ('92 change) and a grooved corkscrew ('91 change when the hook came in) - so this fits too  ;)

The Huntsman is explicable too James, as the hook came out in '91 - But the rivet change happened in '92. So you get a quite a few knives with hook and screwed scissors - I have one!  :salute:

This is my reference...
A new version is due out soon!!

I got it in today: the Classic SD 2016LE "Rainforest walk".

Here it is on a the cover of a book about formal language theory. Before I became a gardener/forester, I was a computer programmer. My whole life's been about trees.

Cali,
I do, but right now I just want to marvel at that "Blue Ti - Brass thing" going on. Awesome.
It feels and looks like "jewelry"; pocket jewelry.

Just got this, NIB Victorinox Special Mechanic (also known as the Junior Mechanic) :  http://www.sakwiki.com/ti...php?page=Special+Mechanic

I could have got one without the advertising on the scales, but think it actually looks even better like this!

It's a little thinner than a Climber/Super Tinker, so still very pocket-able despite the thick pliers layer:

Last summer I scored a Mountaineer from 1989-1990 for €4.
Still can't believe my luck.
