Nice Alox!
I haven't found any general SAK topics, so I'll post it here, my newest musthave is an old Vic GAK. Hopefully I'll find one soon...
Small collection of SAK's, (but growing rapidly. :D) not so fast at this time. :( And the most important of all: Ze Zuper Zoldier by Steve!  :ahhh

No, seriously, the alox bottle opener and it's spring are much sturdier than the 91mm or 84mm tools, and it does fair duty as a pry tool as long as you remember not to apply force in the direction that it closes.

I've used it for light prying too, I think we're all guilty of it probably. Still feels wrong to me though! You're right about the alox being sturdier though, maybe I should feel less guilty about it...

I use both the 91 and 93 mm cap lifters primarily as prybars, and I feel no guilt about it.  The are fantastic in that capacity.

:pok: Look at the swisstool too. It comes with a dedicated Prybar!

Is that part of the frame or fold-out?

It's one of the locking tools that folds out. Called a 'box opener' or 'crate opener' in the brochure. The OHt/new Soldier has a locking SD that works fantastically as a prybar

That implement is the ST's version of the 93mm screwdriver so it's 6 of 1 for me.  I like the small size of my pioneer, and prefer LM's for my plier based tool.

Just arrived today.
A Wenger Seafarer/Windjammer (1 43 05 in EU).
I believe this is an old model, because the cap lifter is missing the "patent" marking plus the fish scaler is missing the newer line-guide.

That's a great find. :tu: I wish I could find a Seafarer and a Deer. But I haven't seen one for sale ever. Just in Neils old pics and on Whanes blog.

Love those Victoria knives.    I hope too many people don't experience how great they are.  They are already getting expensive.

Amen.

For the past 35 years I have been using (but only on sundays! :P) my older Victoria.
It's a very nice 84 mm Woodsman. Love the feel of that baby. Unfortunately the scales are beginning to crack around the bail. So she will be my save queen from now on.

These are called Swiss Memories models and I recently found a different design besides the Matterhorn Peak model. The Snife Esquire knives all have key rings so it makes no sense to not have them on the Swiss Memories models.

I just got my first Wenger SAKs from Ebay. Both Used.
One is a Wenger Evo S111 wich I am very happy with. No signs of wear, very tight and razor sharp blades. I especially like the locking main blade. This one is going straight into my EDC rotation. :tu:

The second one is an Older Wenger Adventurer. (it says Backpacker on the blade, but the tool spec is the same as an adventurer.)  Im not so happy with this one. The main blade, and scissors are great. But the canopener, bottleopener and nailfile does not snap all the way down in closed posistion  by them selves. I had hoped to use it as an EDC, but the sloppy openers and file will anoy me to much.

I finally got another Small Tinker. I haven't carried it yet, as it still has the (relatively dull) factory edge on it. I like 'em so sharp that I'm bleeding if I so much as touch the edge the wrong way. :)

The mammoth Executive also arrived. There is a bit more cracking in the scales than I expected, but the grain and color are so beautiful I'm going to keep it. I might put a drop of thin CA under one of the cracks to keep the ivory from flaking off in that area. Pix soon.

I scored this Wenger Esquire with brushed stainless steel scales. If you have never handled one of these little guys you would have a hard time imagining how substantial they feel (1.2 ounces). It's a hefty little critter, fersure! For a winning bid of $15.50 I think I got a great deal. It's used but in excellent condition. They retail for $54.95! I'll file this as, too good to pass up!

I suspect this may have been an investor perk from UBS (formerly Union Bank of Switzerland)

Same great tools as the Vic Classic. However Wenger neglected to utilize the tip of the file by blunting it as a small screwdriver the way Victorinox did. As it is--pointed--it does serve better to scrape under the fingernails, though.

A comparison shot with the Wenger flanked on the left by a Vic Alox Rambler and on the right by a Vic Classic.

I have already put the Wenger on my key fob, bumping the Rambler. I like the heft and larger overall size of the Esquire.

Another beauty... looks almost black. It is that dark?
Next to black you would notice the difference, but it is very dark with a grey green shade.  If it is sunny tomorrow and no one beats me to it I'll get a picture of it next to a black knife of some sort, and maybe something else.

I think this larger image on the wiki might give you a better look.

Not sure if this helps or not, pictures can be tricky.  Here is the dark Army-Green Scout with Black Cellidor, Black-Ebony wood, OD Cadet, and smooth-black Alox.

Here they are, with some more common 58 and 91 mm SAKs for comparison:

Small Tinker: A great tool set in a really pocket-friendly size:

Mammoth ivory Executive 1:

Back side scale:

Front side scale:

You can see a crack in the end of the one scale:

Here, you can see the other crack, right in the area with the pretty grain:

Here they are next to each other, flanked by a 91mm Compact and 58mm Rambler:

I'm not very disappointed in the cracks. This is an organic material that was made to gore Saber-toothed Tigers, not make knife scales. When I look at it, I am humbled by the fact that it is not less than 125,000 years old, and still somehow legal. (I guess there's no worries about poaching Wooly Mammoths, right?) The most annoying thing about it is everyone's skepticism about whether it is truly Mammoth ivory.

I finally got another Small Tinker. I haven't carried it yet, as it still has the (relatively dull) factory edge on it. I like 'em so sharp that I'm bleeding if I so much as touch the edge the wrong way. :)

Amici,
Picked up a Victorinox classic along with a Brazilian made folding hunter for a whopping $6.00, pics soon to follow, since this particular classic has a hawk bill shaped blade that I've never seen on a classic before.

Cheers,
