First post, I actually signed up to share this image.
I wanted to create a photo that's "advertisement worthy", so I ordered all three Onyx SAKs.
No edits, just straight out of camera.

Cheers,
Ronald

A couple weeks ago I posted some new 84mm models and said I had something interesting coming. It arrived last week but I've been busy planning a graduation party so I now finally have some pictures.
This is a Number 74, according to one of the catalogs on Sakwiki. According to my measurements it is actually 85mm, not 84. It is a unique knife as a collector as I think it's the only "Secretary" type knife with scissors. The scissors themselves are interesting; they are between a 74 and 84mm in size, and look a little different than any other SAK scissors in my collection. It definitely shows some wear, but it still feels like a new knife. It's hard to date anytime like this, but from the few mentions and pictures I could find online I think it's from the 50s. If anyone can tell me more about it I'd l love to hear it. I'm just glad to have it in my collection.

At this point, I probably have over a dozen Classic SDs, plus quite a few Wenger Esquires, non-SD Classics (personally, my favorite, as they clean gunk out of my nails out better--but as standalone, SD rules), and Bijous.

However, for $1 at my favorite local antique store, why not?  It's not even been used much. Blades are still razor sharp, and the scales have little wear. Honestly, I don't think it was ever used or carried much at all.

Also, first real Classic SD I've found locally without a "you know, I can buy a new one for less than that..." price (as with most used SAKs I find around here, and they usually look trashed). Gave my last black one away. Definitely keeping this one--will be carried alongside my black Camper.

I haven't bought a SAK since last October. I've been feeling the itch for a while now. Time to head to some junk/antique stores where I've had some luck before.

At this point, there's nothing specific that I'm looking for so I've no interest in browsing eBay. I get much more excited at spotting something random in a junk store or estate sale.

I wish I could post here about my latest SAK. But I’ve been to all of my local junk/antique stores and have struck out. Sad times when the only place I can find a good used SAK is eBay.  :(

The search goes on!
SAKs:
58mm: Bijou (3), Classic SD (7), Mini Champ Plus (mod), Alox Classic SD, Rambler (3), Companion
65mm: Wenger Esquire
74mm: Executive (2)
85mm: Traveler, Delemont S10, Bass
91mm: Champion "c", Swiss Champ (4), Explorer (3), Deluxe Tinker, Huntsman, Serrated Spartan/Weekender, Explorer Plus, Deluxe Explorer Plus (mod), Outdoorsman Plus, Champion "a", Champion Plus, Timekeeper Alarm, Golfer
93mm: Pioneer Alox

:iagree: I am partial to the water camo scales. Someday I'll have an SAK so equipped.

This came home yesterday. As I prefer them - not from a collector, in almost perfect shape - and cheap. Not cleaned or detailed yet - just as it came.

Very nice find!!  I've been wanting a long file for a while but I haven't been diligent in my search.

Congrats!

Two new Swisschamps.  One for myself, and one for a future gift.  I’d been using my older version Swisschamp for years and wanted to get a new version with the new magnifying glass and improved file.  Both versions are great, but I I like the new versions more because the magnifying glass and file both work better.  The magnifying glass is very clear, not distorted, and easy to read small print with.  The file is more aggressive in removing material..  As for the slightly shortly inline Phillips driver on the newer versions, I’ve been using the one on my Explorer for a few years now, and haven’t had a single time where the shorter length made any difference in functionality.

Picked up 3 Electricians.  Gave them a quick clean and oiling, and now they have good snap.  Two of them have some blades that will need some coarse stone action but not too bad.

I've tried to like 84mm stuff but they are too small unless you have a hand like a 6 year old. I have had old Cadet's , Cadet II's, Voyageur  and Cellidor models and I end up selling them because they are too small in hand and 91mm stuff is made with thicker implements in general and a more serviceable longer main blade. 84mm is a lot of too much made to do about nothing because most models have been retired and people hype up retired models. Should I hype up how great a 1973 Ford Pinto is ? Way too much group think sheepism in the pocketknife world for my liking. Kid's can you say Yeoman, Voyageur and Cadet II ? LOL !!!

Different strokes for different folks, Swisster.

Personally, I tend to agree that 84mm is a little smaller than I prefer, at least for a primary knife.

But, for those who want something on the lighter weight/lighter duty side, they could do a lot worse than an 84mm Vic.
