Just in from Malaysia (!). Victorinox Soldier for Oris watches. I've seen plenty of small SAKs advertising assorted Swiss watch brands, but nothing like this.

Next time try brandy and ebay; maybe you'll get a more valuable (expensive?) range of SAKs.  :D

Nice lot, by the way.  :tu:

I ordered two Explorer's last week but when my package came today, it contained two Yeoman's.

They look just like the Explorer's but the Yeoman's seem to have a pen and pin.  Not sure I need them though.

What? Really?

Those two ought to be worth a lot more than the Explorers..

A Yeoman type Yeoman, or a BSA Yeoman (which has the Explorer's toolset)?
In other words, combo tool next to main blade (3 layer) or full opener layer (4 layer total)?
Either way, a good score  :tu:

They both are the BSA Yeoman.  The box label says "55781 Yeoman Red Boy"

They cost me $23 each. :D

EDIT:  added pics.

What do you mean by "in name only"?  They are Yeoman's cause they have the pen and pin, aren't they?  Explorer's dont have the pen and pin.

Sure they do.  My Explorer came new out of the box with plus scales.  Normally a Yeoman has the tool set of an Explorer, but the small blade is replaced with the combo tool, and there is no opener layer.  The ones WoodMan got are "BSA Yeomen", which are Explorers with Boy Scout markings.

There was an earlier 3-layer, 7-blade version of the Yeoman. When that model was discontinued, Victorinox started to issue the Explorer Plus (a 4-layer, 10-blade knife) as the Yeoman, with the same model number as the discontinued version. Most dealers didn't bother to change their pictures. People who were looking to pick up the discontinued version found they were getting something entirely different, which caused all sorts of heartburn and recriminations. Victorinox currently offers neither version of the Yeoman in their Boy Scout line.

So I must have received the "Explorer Plus" as it has 4 layers and the box label is wrong?

It also has the BSA# 1252 labeled on the bottom of the box.

Sir Mike,

You received the Explorer Plus version of the Yeoman, with the number Victorinox put on both versions. There's no problem with either the knife or the box; just be aware of what you have.

That is what I think I received after these posts and based on that I might send them back as they are not Yeoman's or what I ordered so I might as well just get the Explorer without the Plus.  This is why I asked so I could figure out what I did indeed have!  Thanks all for the help! :)

Here I thought I was getting a great deal at less than $23 each....Oh well, not that lucky! :D

Amazon had a nice price glitch going getting $20off/$50 instead of the normal 10/50 until some loudmouth on slickdeals posted it and ruined it. Was able to get a handyman and climber 2 for $40, and another swisschamp for $36 b4 they caught on  :sak:

I'm kinda glad they did catch it cause I spent way too much on these and the Kershaw deal 10/50, replacements/additions (1 Leek to replace my confiscated one, another with black scales as a backup, a chive for more discreet carry and a sweet all black scallion + an RJ1 which is very nice, and video games...some are to be resold to finance this mess

Yeah, I first place an order for a Cadet in silver alox (dont have one) and a black explorer and during checkout I was kinda shocked at the $20 discount instead of $10.  Place that order, then went back on and ordered two bsa explorer's and got the discount again.  I then went back on and had the swisschamp in the cart but ended up not buying it.  Not sure why but I guess it was because I already had two orders in the works.  I dont have a swisschamp and it was hard not to pull the trigger.  A few days ago, I did go back but didnt see the discount offered so didnt order one then either!

I wondered if it was a mistake and pulled once they found out or if it was just a super sale for a few days! Either way, they got some money from me! LOL

Superb! Personally I especially appreciate the vintage scales, and I think there are some vintage tools in there as well, right?

Absolutely great custom work!
