Not a complete one to show today, but I was prototyping textured Ti scales.  I made up a set of 93mm Ti scales with a ribbed texture.  These are just roughed out, not finished in any way, but I still think they look pretty neat.  :D

I cant decide if they need the full cross hatched look, or just single ribs look best, or even if horizontal ones would look better...

Awhile back I showed some micarta scales my brother had cnc'd... he put one set on a banged up Pioneer and the others on a well worn Climber. He rotated them in and out of carry to see how they would hold up.

Here they are. Please keep in mind this was his first time making or replacing any type of sak scales and they're a bit dingy from use.

That's superb! If you ever decide to make those in 91mm... I would love a Ti Compact :)

I didn't even know Pioneer Pruners existed. Live and learn!

Anyway, today I picked up an Evolution ST 17.814 on the cheap. The Soft Touch scales feel neat, but I love a Swiss Army Knife in red, so I threw on the scales from my Evo s13.

Don't Wenger knives totally look like outdoors enthusiasts? I think they do for some reason.

I also burned in a straight pin hole by the corkscrew, and added a glasses screwdriver, because why not?

I'm really digging the clip point blade, and I've always liked the normal Evo scales.

Yesterday, 2 very nice (dark blue) Festool Campers arrived. Pretty cool, but nothing compared to this one which I also got yesterday:

The June 2013 Donation Draw Prize arrived today and it really is awesome. Thanks a lot Syph007! :salute:

This one landed today and I`m not sure exactly what it is. It was advertised as an old model alox
Bantam but SAKWiki and AloxWorld seem to disagree and it could be an alox Waiter (not that it matters
to me). It came in a vinyl sleeve with no barcode or model number but it`s an old shield ribbed silver
alox knife with main blade and combo tool. The tang is stamped "OFFICIER SUISSE" with the crossbow and cross, the other side is stamped "Victorinox Switzerland Stainless Rostfrei". Anyone care to offer a
definitive answer? I`m just happy to have snagged it at normal retail price. Thanks.

I'd say that's a Bantam. The current Waiter has a corkscrew, and the old alox Waiter had a normal cap lifter instead of the combo tool yours has. Actually, yours is the same one shown here: http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Bantam
Nice knife by the way, I like the old ribbed scales and old shield :tu:

Thanks for your reply Reinier, but that seems to be at odds with this:http://www.aloxworld.com/AloxWorld/Victorinox-Alox-Bantam.html. (I don`t know how to provide a direct link, sorry)

Hmm, no idea actually. But I do know that the old alox Waiter was also called KADETT (Cadet). Even the ones with only one layer, and also the ones with saw or scissors.
Basically, the names have always been different depending on country/region.

I agree with this, and I'm pretty sure SAKwiki does as well.  BUT... When exactly the name changed from Waiter to Bantam I'm not 100% sure but I use the change in the cap-lifter as a convienent reference.  I'm suer not everyone got the memo from vic and continued to call the new version by the old name; and as Reinier mentioned not all regions get the same memo.

Thank you for your replies, gentlemen. I now realise that not everything is as it seems in the world of SAKs given that Victorinox produce models for different markets.

That's amazing!  I wonder if the blades are any less rust-resistant now.   :tu: :tu:
