Nice! Is that a real Vic?! Never saw that kind of scales. Is it made just for the chinese market?

Yes the seller that I could buy it (in ebay) is from China. I think these are made for their market, if you find from other sellers probably they bought from China and have their margin over it.

Yes Reinier, beautiful box, but too expensive for my humble pocket :)

Yes, these are Chinese Zodiac knives with the current Year of the "?". I think this knife was for 2007. I had one a few years ago and the scale color is very unique. The design is hard to understand until you see it in the original box with the complete design. Here are some photos of mine that I  had.

Chinese Year of the Pig knife.

Those are the Chinese Zodiac sign SAKs. And I can't link to them because of the smurfing Victorinox website redirecting thingie. Chinese Vic site gets redirected. :-\ I think there was some additional info there.

Here's a thread with more info we have on MTO but you can find others too if you search for Zodiac SAKs in the swiss forum.

http://forum.multitool.or...orinox-chinese-gift-sets/

edit: Year of the Pig would be from 02/18/2007-02/06/2008 so I think you're right.

Here are some more shots of the Chinese Zodiac knives. At one time they showed up regularly on ebay, but in recent years have been very difficult to obtain.

That is brilliant! Usually the phillips layers has a mag glass, but this arrangement is much better. Were their any issues with getting the can opener and phillips in the same layer?

Meet Matrioshka

My latest, from the 2013 Classic Limited Collection, is little Matrioshka. This design is inspired by
the traditional Russian style of carved wooden figures with successively smaller ones inside.

The other day it occurred to me that in 58 years of carrying a pocketknife, I have never owned a Wenger.  I've probably carried knives made by over thirty manufacturers, and never a Wenger.  It was obvious to me that this situation had to be straightened out (and d----d fast), so I coughed up $9.99 for this used Evo 14.  It is pictured next to a Victorinox Climber just for the fun of it.

I like the Wenger's scissors' spring; it just seems like a clever, sturdy design.  The can opener may prove to be a good box opener, but I haven't tried that yet.  The Evo scales may not be the perfect match for my hand, but they definitely make it easier to acquire a grip on the knife; I think they'd be even more useful if my hands were sweaty or the knife was wet.  I'm willing to trade the Vic's small spear blade for a nail-grooming tool.  I prefer the Vic reamer over the Wenger "punch".  I imagine all of this has been noted and discussed many times here... I could be happy with either knife as a long-term EDC.

Yes, it has, but it's always nice to hear opinions about it from someone new to it. I love the Traveler, this model with the Classic scales, but never could get along with the Climber although the tool setup is almost the same. I use the reamer as a general pokey thing and the can opener for awl duties, scraping and opening packages. You can sharpen it up very easily if it gets dull.
