An XLT from the crazy UK price place. So how does one tell if they got the new glass mag glass? It looks like the old style to me.

New glass one I think. It is deeper into knife. Less plastic at hinge.

Old plastic one. Taller or more plastic at the pivot.

Did they change the type of metal used for the bit driver? The ones on my new Cybertools and XLTs look different compared to my older Cybertools.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Needs Flitz. It is pretty bad when a brand new SAK looks better after Flitz.
Pre Flitz

Post Flitz

Yea it is a different metal. After I polished the old and new they still don't look the same. The old one makes the Flitz rag black in a millisecond. The new one barely changes the rag color at all. The old ones are much more chrome color as apposed to the new one is more gun metal.

Does this change coincide with the bit holder change?

I don't think I am going to press hard enough on the mag glass of a $200 knife to check if it is glass. There has to be a better way.

I just tool a closer look at your blog after noticing the (gift from Urs Wyss) part. You got to go inside the factory too. :ahhh Very cool trip. :hatsoff:

It was a trip of a lifetime... Seeing everything on youtube or tv is nice, but being there is priceless. I hope you enjoyed the story and pictures. ;)

I just noticed Victorinox shared your story on Facebook :tu:

Reinier, thanks for the info! I had no idea...

Yes I saw that today, really cool Jeroen, very well written article about the factory visit.  :tu:

Just joined the SAK club. I can finally stop using small Leatherman bits as toothpicks, and Leatherman pliers as tweezers

My wife will be thrilled next time we go out to eat  ::)

This little gem will be an EDC on my key-ring.

I've been on a really crazy SAK buying/bidding spree on ebay for the past few days...

So far, this is my updated list:

A set consisting of 6 x Huntsman and 1 x Explorer (used)
Soldier (2012) with sheath and sharpener (new)
Red Spartan Limited 2012 Edition (new)
Rescue Tool (new)
Tinker with key ring sharpener (new)
Huntsman with hardwood scales (new)
Rambler with Matrioschka design (new)
Champion (used)
Climber with matte red scales (used)
2x Classic (used)
Fisherman (used)
Signature (used)
Signature Lite (used)
Huntsman Lite with case (new)
Wenger Spartan (used)
Wenger EVO 14 (used)

I'll update here with pics as they drop in my mailbox :climber:

But seriously... this has got to stop now. Except... I'm really hoping to win the bid on a few that are ending tomorrow

I like that Matrioschka design too... where did you find it on a Rambler? (Though I must say, I slightly prefer the Foxy one, you know one with the fox in the forest...also the Footsteps series which I think are only sold in Italy are really cute too. Badger footprints on a white classic. Awesome.)

Me I've just given away a brand new Swisstool Spirit RT... it's gone to a 16 year old so it'll probably be destroyed/ stolen fairly soon but c'est la vie.

Also received a bantam and cadet in groovy Danish green. The alox Bantam is turning into my favourite knife... it's just too awesome for words.

And I've got a black Farmer on the way from Italy. Never used a Farmer before, but it looks useful. The Cadet I must say is kind of disappointing. I don't understand why everyone loves it so much. Where's the awl!!! I think I will order 20 Bantams from Denmark... the perfect pocket knife. And if they are no longer available in the rest of the world how long will they be available there?
