Someone did a pretty decent job of putting rosewood grips on a Wenger Pointer; then proceded to use it fairly extensively. Cleaned up nicely.

Wenger likes orange!  Maybe that's why we don't see too many Vics in orange.

Nice pictures!
Yes Wenger likes orange, but unfortunately only few models are available in this color (and only in Europe, as far as I can tell).
I really like this color and I prefer it over the Yellow in the RangerGrip configuration.
Is your RangerGrip the model 79 (with saw) or 61 (without)?
As for the pink...well, it would be interesting to know at which consumer market they were aiming, as I don't see the possibility of many ladies using such a big knife.
I prefer the orange to the yellow as well.  Must have been the result of some flawed market survey on color, or they really wanted to reserve the orange or the special edition one in the Squadron set.

The Orange Ranger is a 61, I don't think I have a 79 version yet.  I bought it to transplant the scales actually.  I probably won't get the 79 in Orange, but I have another 61 to keep stock.

I think the Pink was a pretty good move for Wenger, I think a lot of Women hikers would really like the pink one and folded it's not that big of a knife if your into outdoor camping.  ... maybe you guessed I'll be transplanting the scales to increase the general contrast of the knife even more.

Looks nice!
Love the worn feel of the handles.

Remember to show us the results!
I think it is just too bad that Wenger never used the orange EvoGrip scales on the smaller 85mm knives.

After spending some time with both, I prefer the Wenger Rangers over anything Victorinox makes.
Victorinox SwissTools are great, but I prefer Wenger SAKs.

Yes, it is too bad no 85mm models yet... but there is still time... cross your fingers.... if they're willing to do pink in 85mm you would think they just need a little encouragement to do orange.   :D

It will be awhile before my transplants are shown, they are part of a bigger set I'm assembling, but eventually hopefully all SAKs get some time in front of the camera.

I had the black knife in this set for a while, but could not really find out much information on it, I was not even sure who made it, I think it was sold as a Victorinox, but of course it looked for close to some of the previous Wengers we've seen with the imitation tortoise-shell and what appears to be an imitation-horn.

I picked up the extra one last week and one of them has the Tahara stamp like the previous similar ones, so I'm pretty sure these are all infact Wenger knives, or they were made by another cutler and sold by more than one company.

I'm pretty sure they're Wengers. The imitation pearl is only marked 'inoxidable', while the imitation horn is marked 'Wenger / Tahara'.

Received a reply from an older email that I had forgotten about.

Thank you very much for your e-mail and participation on Baselworld 2013. I am sorry not to have replied earlier, which I greatly regret.

We will certainly keep the more unique Wenger tools. However, I am sorry that I cannot give you any information on new product lines at the moment. We will keep our customers informed via the media on time. Thank you very much for your understanding and patience.

Very interested to see how this merging of the Swiss Knives turns out.

A little cross-post here.  With some Wenger history that seems forgotten.  More pics at a leter date after it gets some TLC.  Wenger 3-Layers Hobo style (one of the previous owners of this knife treated it very badly, I know they paid a price  :)).

Really an unusual find, congratulations!  :tu:
I saw the auction: too bad that the blade was abused so much.
Because of this, I was not expecting this knife to be sold as such a premium price.

Ya looks like only 3 people thought it was really worth something, and one of them was the seller.

I had to ignore the blade, because I've never heard of this moldel before and I think few others have as well. The rest of the tool is in excellent condition.  Seems like a modder or Wenger might be able to replace the blade, especially if I can find the same one in a knife and remove it.  Even if I never do that though I'm happy with the deal (yes because I'm SAK crazy).  Something interesting to explore.

Of course if a batch of these turn up now that people know what to look for, this one won't be worth much, but I'll be able to buy another nicer one and still be happy.

This will be a fun project, perfect for expanding my sharpening experience and testing my new shapening jig mods.

I think that the possibility of more of this kind of knife to show up is quite small, so you made a great purchase in my opinion.
Sometime is just better to buy what you really like than to spend weeks regretting why you didn't.

Never heard about the ap blaze version.
Now, for the "wiki" part.
Would you mind uploading this picture to the wiki gallery, or let me upload it with proper credits?
Could you also check for the catalog numbers (on the box labels) of both the snow and ap blaze?

My latest Wenger is 1 62 41 , not opened since the factory. The Ap Blaze is still EDC and the scales are high quality!

Yes. Now I believe you. This was the only reason for me to order this snow, to be sure it really exists. :D

Please feel free to upload the pic to wiki. The numbers are:
red: 1.505.059.300
Blaze: 1.505.059.804
Snow: 1.505.059.806

If someone wants to know my French source for these three, just send me a PM.

It is a small "gutting blade", according to the wiki used to "to cut open the stomach cavity of any animal brought down by a hunter in the field"... something we all do everyday.... :D

I saw few of these very same blisters in a shop last year while I was on holiday in the Alps, but the price was too high.

I'm guessing they did not sell all of the ones they made, and they just put new scales on some, rather than making an addtional run.  Maybe Wenger can confirm, it would be great to know.

Thanks for the informations.
I think the EvoHunter wiki page is really in need of an edit

You are more than welcome to edit the pages on sakwiki. You are more than qualified and very knowledgeable in SAKs and I'm sure Francis would welcome a bit of help especially on the Wenger pages. There are lots of pages that still need to be written and we can't expect Francis to do all the work. It's not that hard to make a page or edit it and there are also templates to make the job easier. :salute:

EDIT: I see you've been quite busy helping out already. :D Very nice. I as a Wenger fan appreciate it a lot.
