This is the third thing that I've ever made out of paracord. The first was a crappy cobra bracelet, and the second was a small lanyard.

A friend of mine gave me 50' of safety orange paracord Friday. I have been trying to come up with a good 'how to not lose a black flashlight' solution. She showed me this knot the other day. The benefit to it over other things I've seen is that once the end knot is pulled out of the loop its in, the whole thing can be unraveled just by pulling it. I didn't like the cobra knot, since it would take forever to undo all the braiding if you actually needed the cordage. Sorry to say that I don't know the name of this knot, but I was told sailors used to use it to make belts.

This is about 12 feet of cord.

Added a star knot to my One Hand Trekker with a leftover scrap of the somewhat horrid neon yellow paracord, which is close to the stay glow scale color, and you'd probably have to drop it in a field of daisies to lose it, lol.  And made an adjustable loop star knot lanyard with some reflective Nite Ize cord, just by feeding the end strand back through the center of the knot...

Ooh, they are lovely :D

I can see how it's a useful sized knot for stopping something slipping through your fingers too.

Thank you, Ma'am!  :D

Here's a single strand star knot used with a fixed blade knife, where the loop can be worked up against the handle for a no-snag type lanyard with the single strand hanging down being less likely to catch on brush while hiking.  The loop can be extended for wrist wear or thumb and loop behind the hand secure method...

I uploaded a video for tying the single strand star knot, so anyone that had trouble with following Fred's photo tutorial should be able to tie one after seeing both, with a little patience...  ;)

Amici,
Ahh parachord, one of the overlooked gifts from the Gods along with fire. I usually carry about 100' of it in my hiking pack, as well as another bundle in my GHB "just" in case. I also wear a bracelet made from the stuff held together with a small shackle,

Cheers,
Serge

Thanks!  :D

I'll have to see if I can find some thinner guage solid rings in brass or copper at the hardware store, something not as thick as the key/split rings where their thickness causes a bit of deformation where they're tied around the ring...

And another Celtic ring paracord cross lanyard, with a long 4 bight Turk's head knot tied around the key/split ring with black 0.9mm cord, then the crown sinnet cross tied around it with maroon paracord...

I keep forgetting to take photos of things I've made.

Last week I made a 7 to 8 foot lead rope for a horse. Same 8 cord braid as the dog leads, but longer with a large stopper knot on the end made up of a diamond knot and a star knot. I hope the new owner likes it, on it's way overseas now.

Bravo Mr Drane  :tu:

Great way to carry cord you need for the kit on the outside and win aesthetically.
