SHOT runs until Friday, although to be honest, most companies pack up everyone important by mid day on Thursday.  The Outdoor Retailer show often overlaps SHOT in Salt Lake, and companies like Leatherman try to have a presence at both.

Honestly I think Leatherman has a dead fish here as well.  I actually have one of the links that Leatherman sent me as part of the invite to this event.

I have held off posting the pics in public so as not to invite any possible negative feedback based on an incomplete picture.

Also, I have tiny wrists so I might have to leave half the tool components at home, especially if I get the watch.

....... just kidding! I think it's terrible.

As a multitool, with those stubby drivers, it's useless.
As a bracelet, with its ability to inflict injury, it's useless.... And ugly.
As a marketing idea, it's suicide.

I think there's a whole load of multitool lovers wetting themselves with laughter right now, over this.
The "Swiss movement watch" will indeed be Swiss, I'm sure, but whoever mentioned Swatch was probably right on the money.  Nothing wrong with Swatch by the way, but it's a £3 movement in a £10 case.

Most of all I feel a tinge of sadness.  I get the whole feeling that marketing BS over sensible ideas is going on.  I get the feeling that somebody got the price point VERY wrong and I think it's one step closer to oem branded Chinese junk being passed off as Leatherman.  This isn't the first product like this.  Look at all the "Single-plane" stamped tools they've been coming out with recently.  They've realised that these things are dirt cheap to make, and the margins are massive.  Leatherman, ask yourself, where are you going?

But overall,

I watched the video above.  it showed where the links were connect to something while the guy was cutting, etc.  What was it?  I just don't get how I can take a link and get much torque on it, or am I missing something?

I wonder if she cut herself on the bracelet? Anyone else notice the blood on one of her fingers at around 2:35?

500 to 600 bucks for a Leatherman watch...yeah that won't happen. If anything, I may get a bracelet down the road...but I suspect by then I will have a few firearms (hopefully) and might be short of change by the time this comes out. That might delay buying one. Frankly, the more I see of it, the less I like it.

I still am not enthused about this. It looks big, heavy, cumbersome, and not all that well thought out. The price is steep at that, especially if you factor in extra links.

And what about those of us with thin wrists.  So we remove 2 or 3 links to make it fit snug and lose half the tools.

Just use the left over links and some paracord for a tool based watch fob!

Okay, so we're talking $200 for the steel bracelet, and $600 for the DLC watch.

So for the price of the bottom line bracelet, you can buy a Super Tool 300, a Rebar and a Micra.

For the price of the top range watch, you can buy ALL of the Skeletool family and ALL of the Juice family, possibly including the Squirts if you find good deals.

Like tools?  Look like one with the Leatherman Tread.

My EDC:
Leatherman Skeletool   Led Lenser P3 AFS P
Leatherman Style CS    "Fauxton"
Sharpie Twin Tip           Bic Mini

Dont get me wrong. I love Leatherman and wish them all the best, but its getting ridiculous in what they are bringing to the table in the last few years.

Well, on the plus side, they have not stopped producing what we consider useful tools and are just trying to see if they can attract newer customers.
You have to go a bit weird if you are trying to create a niche/new market.

It is not very likely, but maybe this, or V.2 of it will be successful.

When Nissan produced the Qashqai most people though it was weird and nobody would buy it. Now every other car company is copying the concept.

That means Leatherman wants their link back.  :D

Ah well, I guess I shouldn't smurf on a product until I have a real example in my hands. At those steep prices, I am not sure when that might happen. It may play havoc with my firearms funds. Time will tell.

I'll be honest, I don't how useful it is, but I kinda like it. It would make a good companion/alternative to a paracord bracelet, which lots of people wear and never use.

Hm, this reminds me of other accessoires whos price only comes from the cc or LV logo...

I won't pay the demanded prices for this, having a coroding steel with 3% Nickel in a bracelet is absolutely ridicioulus and I don't think there is much 'tool' value in this stubby drivers.

Oh, and TSA won't let you on a paln with this motorcycle chain dusters on your arm, will they?
