Wrecking Crew, 2025 PRIME

Set in HAWAII. Nice scenery, a fun distraction to this midwestern cold winter.

Story line is about two half brothers, learning to accept each other solving what happened to their father.
Predictable but fun.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Good movies — at least the first two. The third I can't remember because we tried watching it thrice and I fell asleep all three times. The fourth one I don't remember because I got dental work done and I think the medication was still affecting me.

So, we watched A Man Called Otto today. In the first scene they show Otto pull out a traditional knife with a clip point blade. I saw him open it and realised that I may have been opening pocketknives incorrectly my entire life because I tried it the way he did it and it was...incredibly easy, like way easier than how I've always opened them. Anyways, it was a pretty decent movie. Tom Hanks keeps acting in movies based on Swedish books... I'm almost expecting them to do a remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with Tom Hanks in it.

Lucky you... I'm not even allowed to watch The Silence of the Lambs anymore... Granted, I watched it once a week for about four straight years, but hey, it's a good movie! Pretty decent book, too. Although, the Hannibal book is the best of the bunch (the movie's suckiness notwithstanding...). That's a very cool collection of horrorbilia!

Interesting collection your wife has there.

A grandson is a horror fan, has shelves in his bedroom filled with many horror figures 12” and 18” sizes. A life size mannequin with his Micheal MEYERS outfit with mask.   If a comet comes to close by, they will awl come to life, no escaping that room.

It Comes at Night  2020.German movie dubbed in English.  Not just your usual cookie-cutter monster flick.  No college kids renting a cabin.  No opening scenes of someone driving through the woods.  No lady running through the woods half nekkid and being pulled away feet first by an unseen critter.  It kept my interest throughout without my being able to predict where it was going.  Best wishes.  G

Two movies -

Friday evening I went older.

Watched LAST OF THE MOHICANS with DANIEL DAY LEWIS.   The story flows, the events and characters are very believable, yet the scenery was actually gorgeous.

This is the second time viewing, each in different decades or was it centuries?  Worth the time no matter your preferences.

The second film is more current!  Yet in tune to the new season that started today in Australia, or WS that yesterday

F1 with BRAD PITT.   I love racing, but being state side I actually knew little about F1, teams, tracks, cars and strategy.    Watching a second time solo, (without distractions), gave me a better understanding of the dialog and why PITT’s character was so much the renegade.   It is very good and well told tale, but what drove me to give it another look was a film documentary on the strategy the film makers took in the final racing sequences.  And the filming simulating flying by excluding the car from view. It was brilliant.

And, now I may need to watch again as this morning I learned more information, first being CADILAC is a new team this YEAR.  The engines are HYBRID, and cars are now smaller and resigned for better airflow which was a major theme of the movies underlining theme to be more aggressive in the turns, or as it discusses option C, COMBAT MODE.

Unfortunately the movie F1 may only be on APPLE + as is this years race series.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The Shadow  1954.  Case of the Cotton Kimono.  An unsuccessful pilot to turn the popular radio show into a TV series.  Not the first attempt to put The Shadow on a screen.  Mediocre at best.  I'm an old-time radio buff.  I've listened to thousands of these old radio shows.  Comedy, western, who-dunnits.  Exaggeration?  There are 480 episodes of Gunsmoke alone.  I have heard them all at least twice.  Dragnet?  There are 314 of those.  Heard them all several times.  Dozens and dozens of other shows with countless episodes each.  The Shadow was about an invisible detective.  The Whistler was very similar.  I never liked either of them.  The Shadow spawned books and comics, but never really made much of a transition to movies or TV.  That didn't mean that people didn't try.  Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?  The Shadow knows.  Buahahah.  Best wishes.  G
