Black Lotus 2023 - Dutch/ American Action movie.

Reacher type character returns to see former buddies family, and the story unfolds from there.

Action, fight scenes predictable story line.

6.5/10.

Just watched “Evan Almighty” where Morgan Freeman tells Steve Carell to build an ark, I must say my face still hurts, every time I relaxed something went on and I’d start  , then relax, and within 5min  ,, I thought it was pretty good!

The Last Hard Men  1976.  Violent western with old retired marshal searching for vengeful escaped prisoners.  Not the best western I have seen lately, but not the worst.  Best wishes.  G

Prometheus  2012.  Related to the Alien series of movies.  I must have watched the first part of the movie before, but never watched it through.  A must see for Alien fans.  If anyone is starting that series, probably not a good one to begin with.  Best wishes.  G

The Day the Earth Stood Still  1951.  I hadn't seen this movie since I was in grade school.  Better than I remembered it.  Starts out with possibly the most annoying background music in movie history.  For some reason I remembered the monster robot to grow to giant size and terrorize the city.  That didn't happen.  A good movie.  Best wishes.  G

The Scarlet Claw  1944.  Nigel Bruce and Basil Rathbone portray Watson and Holmes.  Black and white.  The screenwriters didn't know how to make the usual deductions and clever Holmes wit.  Watchable.  Best wishes.  G

Last night was bored,

Watched THE TERMINAL with TOM HANKS. Caught in JFK Airport without a passport recognized by the USA because a coop happened while his flight was in the air.

CATHERINE ZETA JONES was eye candy ,(before well known)!

I thought a this was good use of my time!  Simple and entertaining.

H*ll and High Water  1954.  I watched another movie with an almost identical title.  H*ll or High Water.  This one is a submarine mission to scout out an island with secrets.  It looked a little familiar, and I realized I had seen it before.  It was pretty good.  Best wishes.  G

Asyllum  1972. British.  Great cast.  Story by Robert Bloch.  A sort of anthology with separate story lines revolving around a single idea.   A good solid watch.  Best wishes.  G

Fackham Hall on HBO Max.  A goofy comedic knockoff of Downton Abbey (sort of), with the kind of humor I remember from the 1980 comedy Airplane! movie.

Worth watching.  8/10.

The Gorge  2025.  This movie DOESN'T have an overhead shot of someone driving, driving, driving, a woman running through the woods in fear, baby being born, or someone falling on the ground and being pulled away feet first.  No 20 something year old group of stupids driving to a rented cabin in the woods.  No creepy old dirtball at a fall-apart gas station telling the cell-phone addicts to stay away.  No car driver who turns all the way around in the seat to talk to some of her drunken friends while going 70 mph on a twisty road.
This movie is sort of a Romeo and Juliet with monsters and artillery.  Actually has a plot and interesting actors.  Sure some of the action scenes are unrealistic.  Over two hours long but catchy and entertaining.  Maybe a must watch.  Best thing I have seen lately.  Best wishes.  G

NO RESERVATIONS , 2007?, found on TUBI

ANOTHER KATERINE ZETA JONES movie, this time the lead. Yes I do enjoy a beautiful burnette, had one to myself for 46 yrs. 😊

This is no an action movie, instead a heart touching story of an accomplished chef, living her best life single but in charge. Until, she is not.   Deals with many emotions. Humorous scenes and feel good results during.

A 7 / 10 for me.

Worth the time especially if you share with a significant other.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

IN MY DREAMS, a hallmark style movie, which is cute.
Another lovely burnette, also, Italian restaurant as a background.
Throw in a wishing well, and over bearing but loving mother, a real previous girl friend, overbearing surprising boss and you have puzzle of a story.

A shareable movie if you are a romantic and can.
….

I think I will return to my EVIL episode streaming and will catch the GORGE SOON. (I think there is a burnette too!)

I watched, THE GORGE.
Was on my radar for a while, based on this review I made the effort.
Well worth the time.  Interesting story line!  Better ending. And yes a burnette, was involved!  With greenish eyes too!

Some brass, some special effects, conspiracy secrets, etc.

In a similar vein, I saw a movie a year or two ago but don't remember the title.  It was about a group searching for gold taken by the Japanese in WW2.  They think they have found it, but unseal what remains of a secret base that was producing genetically altered super soldiers.  A company of these implacable things are waiting for orders.  They are all dressed in samurai-type armor and escape to do their duty.
Perhaps someone can tell me the name of the flick.  I saw an 'Identify any movie by AI' site, but my description stumped it.  Artificial stupidity fails again.  Best wishes.  G
 :ahhh

Late edit:  That movie was Dead Mine from 2012.  The Outpost was similar to it. G

The BALLERINA, a JOHN WICK  associated story line.

Could be a series with a female bogey man.

I thought it was entertaining, yet kept my interest as I was interrupted a few times watching. Took me three seperate attempts across three evenings. I will need to try to watch it in one sitting in next few weeks.

Story starts with little girl be protected by her father, he dies from his wounds after saving her.

If you enjoyed the JOHN WICK saga, this will not disappoint.

8/10

I'd recommend The Batman with Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader - a very pleasant surprise, and my fave Batman movie

I enjoyed it much more than the Nolan stuff tbh. I'm a lifelong Batfan, but that trilogy just didn't do it for me. The Batman, I felt, was nicely understated.

The Cloverfield trilogy - Cloverfield, 10 Cloverfield Lane and Cloverfield Paradox.

No synopsis because I don't want to spoil them for you if you haven't already watched them but they're all good in their own right, very different films from each other with a common theme to link them all together.

For fans of scifi horror.
