Still have some Christmas recordings on the DVR that I need to finish.  Thought that A Christmas Carol needed another view.
1938 version with Reginald Owen is a favorite for me.

Terrifier 3. Less drawn out than the 2nd.

Art gives Mr Bean vibes. Still not as good as the first.
Also know as Gomez.

Island of Desire  1952.  Very young Tab Hunter shipwrecked with a nurse.  At least he carried his USMC KaBar.  Best part of the movie.  Best wishes.  G

Henchman's War  2013.  Violent.  It was watchable.  Gangster payback movie.  By the way I didn't recognize the movie from JR's photo.  I asked the Bing AI thing to find it.  The AI said it was Roy Orbison.  Even I knew that wasn't right.  Best wishes.  G

Close Quarters  1943.  WW2 British submarine movie.  Very slow paced.  Everyone seems to smoke onboard.  Practically gave me a coughing fit just thinking about it.  Unless you have a submarine fetish, might not like this one.  Best wishes.  G

Finished Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning.  Its still really bad.  2/10.  So stupid it almost not watchable.  Looks like after 8 of these movies, they would know how to do it right.  Apparently not.  Oh well.

Pretty much in line with professional reviewers I've read.
I do like that both this and the two previous movies were partly filmed here in Norway, so no matter how bad I will watch it for that reason alone. Not in a hurry though.

JR

We saw that one in theaters when it first came out and I thought it was very well done. Freddy Mercury would not be an easy role to play well but I think Rami Malek did a great job.

However, the bit that kept gnawing at me (not a problem for most I imagine, but a nagging thing in my head) is that Rami is quite slight, while Freddy was quite a large man physically.  Many of the scenes seemed odd to me as Freddy would have dominated them with size and presence, and not just his overwhelming presence.

In some of the scenes I almost felt as if Freddy was diminished slightly because Rami is so much smaller.

That having been said, he absolutely nailed the role and he can't do anything to make himself bigger, so it's not a sleight against him in the least.

I just wish they had done some better camera angles and forced perspectives to make him look more accurately sized, like they did in Lord of the Rings or Elf.

Or every Tom Cruise movie.

Otherwise absolutely brilliant.

Yes a little off on size but as far as the duplication I think he nailed it, here, if you liked it watch this, it’s a video of both, a split screen with the movie on one side yet the real live aid concert on the other, even the sounds split and it sounds as if it’s in stereo,, I could have only imagined what this was like in theater,, that concert raised $100m which is equivalent to over $300m today!

Do we rate TV-shows here?

I'll risk it. If I'm out of line, admins can just escort me behind the barn and do your thing.

Over the last couple of weeks I've worked myself through both seasons of Deep State on Disney Plus.
I don't have any running subscriptions, but I like to have Disney during Christmas so we have access to the classic Christmas cartoons, Die hard 1 & 2.  You know, the stuff that gets you in that Christmas state of mind.

Anyways, I had the sub, got in the mood to watch something in the spy genre, but it was late in the evening so didn't want to commit to a full movie. Had no idea what's even on Disney except what's mentioned above and a gazillion messed up Star Wars movie sequels and spin off series, so I did a google search and Deep State came up. Mixed review, but with at least a few positives it was worth a shot.

When I say I worked myself through the series, it actually felt like work at times.
I did like the 2. season better, but it does build to some degree on season 1, so I'm not sure it stands well on its own.
Both seasons use very annoying and sometimes ridiculously unlikely chain of events to connect the plot and drive the story. It goes in all directions, often characters just knows exactly where and what the opponent is doing or planning, like they could read thoughts. And sometimes characters gets away with the most careless behavior that surely would have been intercepted by the kind of intelligence machine portrayed in this series. And sometimes they have the characters just do stupid and very unlikely actions that just goes against common sense.
It's unfortunate. If some more effort was put into making it a bit more believable, it could have been very good. The casting is good and some of the actors do a very decent job. As a whole though, it's only OK.
Season 2 is generally good entertainment. definitely has its share of the issues mentioned, but used in a slightly less annoying way. It's also an altogether more interesting story, though there is a bit much jumping back and forth in time.

Costume department did a great job. I'd like to know some of the brands and models of clothes used in the Mali scenes in season two. I don't travel as much to hot climates anymore, so maybe it wouldn't be of much use, but never hurts to know.

The Frogmen  1951.  Good movie.  I was just talking with a friend here about APD class ships.  By chance I found this movie and it happened to have APD 134 in it.  Inserting underwater demolition frogmen.  I had no idea even the title of the movie when I selected it.  Just said 1940s an excellent WW2 navy drama/ Gary Merrill.
Some of the APDs were built as such.  Others were converted DE (destroyer escorts).  If you would like to see a good DE movie watch The Enemy Below from 1957.   Easy to find these old movies.  Best wishes.  G
