111mm Day 15:

No uses today. I finished my truck's battery rehab project, but the Hercules stayed in the pocket and wrenches and sockets did the required work. Lunch was leftovers....more Welsh Rabbit....so the Herc was spared KP duty as well. Now just mousing around.....

Comparison of two openers...

The new 111mm cap lifter is definitely beefier. But....functionally.....not much difference?  :dunno:

The tip width is the same for both.

Not much difference for opening. But the size of the screwdrivers are different. And that big one is a very good pry bar.

I can see where it is better for prying.  For screws, it would really depend.

*Sighs*.  "I so want to go to Ibach (and Reichenbach whilst I'm there......)."
Hope you have a good trip and do get to visit.  It could be great for collection but too on wallet.

Day 15:

Last night drove me nuts. Not having scissors a d a few other tools on me was excruciating!!!  So tonight, the Hercules is back.

So far this challenge has taught me one thing... the Hercules is easy to carry at work!!!

So now I’m thinking of a Workchamp. I really miss not having a file on me.

I love the big 111mm's.  :tu:

Great toolsets and the larger knife blade (my most commonly used tool) just seems a bit more useful and easier to use. I appreciate the larger grip, as well. For me, the grip is nearly as important as the blade. So the 111mm's are a big step up.

However.......they are not as comfortable to carry. I think....for my 'lifestyle'....the 91mm's hit the sweet spot. The Classic and the Executive are great knives that cover most of my EDC needs; but the 91's give me a few more tool options in a very pocketable form factor.

The 91's/93's have the same size openers (for practicable purposes), the scissors and pliers are also the same size. The big in-line Phillips is the same size. The 111mm's really shine with their bigger knives and saws. On the other hand, I've found myself wishing for a small pen blade a couple of times. Sure the 111mm blade did the job, and well, but sometimes a small pen blade just fits the bill.

So.....for day-to-day carry, the 91's probably work best for me.

I am write there with you in that assessment, exceptI don’t really need the bigger grip.

The 91mm (or 93) are just perfect for pocket carry and with the right toolset for the occasion can accomplish almost any task.  I don’t miss the pen blade that much, because most the time I’m carrying a Compact (or variant with combo tool) or a 93mm.  Also sometimes I’ll just carry a traditional for fun which gives me that option.

You have to unlock it to fold it away after opening your beer! Quite an annoying functional difference as far as I am concerned

Exactly!!

I’ve been looking, but the newer liner lock style is tough to find for a decent price.

Carrying the Adventurer today. The slider broke on a bag of dog food (second time with this brand in as many bags, poor design) so cut open the bag to transfer it to one that actually works. And Coco getting down with nature

Ok, those with both versions of either the Hercules or Workchamp... what is your opinion on the different placement of the main blade?

Not just slide lock versus liner lock, but the actual different layer the blade is in??

Day 15:
…So now I’m thinking of a Workchamp. I really miss not having a file on me.

I also like having a file (and saw) and recently got a 91mm Ranger so I could have one in something easier to carry than the Swiss Champ. Work Champ appeals but doubt I’d actually carry it, whereas the Outrider (no file though of course) seems to be a great compromise between weight and utility.

Question - is the work champ file much bigger on 111’s than those found on 91’s in the same way the saw is? The 120’s and 130’s (same size as each other) definitely even more useful again IMO

See my recent post with blade, scissors and saw size comparison here (shameless plug  )

https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,86355.msg2197772.html#msg2197772

Please feel free to add file comparison, or any other tools if you like
