Day 5
Quiet day as first day back at work was heavy on paperwork . Just nipping up loose screw on a door handle . SD may be a wee bit bigger than is actually required  :D

Good use. Wow, that door handle looks quite derelict.

Good use of the pliers. Were you disassembling them for parts?

I carve the bodies and reassemble them into sparkers.

Day 5

Inspired by FolderBeholder's scissors post yesterday, I too switch to Outrider today and used the scissors to harvest herbs from home plants for dinner tonight.  One thing I start to realize is how much I like to use the scissors and small blade on my SAKs, and I used to have a pretty strong preference on having an OHO blade on my 111mm, but since it is more for the urban use this month, I think I actually prefer to trade in the OHO for a scissors and phillips.  I weighted the Outrider and OHO trekker, turns out they both weight the same.

Herb butter steak dinner, it was pretty good eating.

I agree with you, Ron. I think this challenge is being run with standard 111mm 30-day challenge rules.

The convention is to use your challenge tool as much as possible. If another tool is required....say scissors....specify in your daily post that your challenge tool fell short and an alternative tool was used. And post of a photo of the deficient 111mm for that day.....and every day....

I think this concept is fun in so far as it gives us awl a chance to assess whether or not a tool might have shortcomings that may be relevant to us as well. If I need scissors for some task but don't have them on a Trekker.....it might be good for other participants to be aware that the lack of scissors is a potential weakness in the Trekker's armamentarium.

However, this concept could be taken too far: typically we don't mention the fact that we used a toothbrush to clean our teeth because our Ti scaled Trekker doesn't have a toothpick. You guys are still brushing and flossing during the challenge.....aren't you?!  :dwts:

There is no need to specify that you used a fork at dinner. We assume that you are resorting to the appropriate tableware to eat your meals. Of course, in Fuzzbucket's case, we assume he's just using his bowl and hands. So, if he were to use a fork or chopsticks or spoon, we'd like to hear about that novelty.  :tu:

Play on!   :tu:
What?  Wait...you mean you could use toothbrush?  Why no one tell me about the memo?!

:iagree: It's crazy how useful the small blade is in real life.  For me, its absence is a major flaw of both the Compact as well as the 111 mm models.
That's an interesting viewpoint, I actually could understand Compact trying to scale down to 1 layer, by shrinking the two layers Spartan into 1 layer.  And I always see my 111mm Trekker as an outdoor knife.  But I carried the Outrider today, and could surely appreciate the scissors when using it in urban environment.  I have never done a 111mm mod, but if I were to do one, will be putting an OHO blade into outrider. :D

I don't know why it would be but when you have pancakes/drop scones made in those they taste so much better, i really miss mine  :like:

Day 4  Bar maintenance, filed down the rails with the Tradesman

(Image removed from quote.)
Can't have pancake for now, at least not till my weight-loss challenge is over. :dunno:   But I could totally see it!  I think my first trial will probably trying to fry an egg in it, just to see whether it will "stick". :pok:

Day 4
No uses today, and none foreseen. Thankfully my mother has run out of toilets to modify!
I’m outside playing with my girls, here’s a glamour shot I took.
I know many folks living in the cold climate always prefer warmer weather, but I really do miss snow. :dd:

Didn't know you could use the cheese blade to clean dogs. Interesting. Although I wonder if you can ever get back to cutting cheese (and afterwards eating it) with it now that you know where it has been...
^ and ^^

Thanks gents! The tip actually worked pretty well, good care however, was required. The tool is quite sharp after all.
I did clean it afterwards naturally, so cheese will be consumed.. ;)
This kinda reminded me about a trip I took long while ago in SE Asia, the local eatery was pretty rustic(basically was just a wooden hut by the road) and I did avoid drinking any liquid if they are not in a bottle.  Everything was fine and dandy until towards end of the day, I used the toothpick from my SAK to pick my teeth, and I had never cleared it for a godzillion years.  That very same night, my stomach taught me a lesson how important it is to keep my SAK clean, if I were to use it on food/tooth. :D

Great job on this, I think this iteration is even better with the loop at the end.  Neat! :like:

You can leave a bit of a tab at the bottom, and put a split ring instead of a ring screw.
The split ring is much lighter that a ring screw, and easier to attach to stuff.

I remember this, what about if we just cut this one short, and drill a hole for the split ring in the end?  Would it be sturdy enough?

Day 05

Opened an old notebook. That long small philipps is very good for that, especially when you have recessed screws.

Day 4:

Back to work after being off since 12-23-20.  For my use tonight I opted for my Centurion with the modded Sentinel pocket clip scales.

Just been cutting up cardboard. Opening boxes. Cutting parts bags open.  Also used can opener/driver to tighten some screws on a flat screen monitor mount.

Nice pics and uses zrxoa1! :like: :tu: :tu:

Day 4

The day flew by, so I’m a little late.  The Outrider helped open up and cut the plastic/tape wrapping off a new paper shredder that was a Christmas gift.
