Yes. DO ensure the food is shelf-stable and will survive the storage period. DO practice safe food handling practices. But, yes, you can include repackaged bulk foods. Try to measure any such food so that you know how many calories/joules/energies you've got.   ;)

 :like:
That's going to help a lot, if I do not manage to find what I am after. I'll avoid doing it for now, and comb my area's shops. Fingers crossed.
If I do end up repackaging stuff, I'll use my kitchen scale to measure proper single portions. It's funny, I don't think I've used my kitchen scale for anything other than weighing multi-tools.

I found some of these small, wax-wrapped cheeses at the market. However, they said 'perishable' and 'keep refrigerated'.

I have to believe that wax coated cheese is capable of stay at room temperature for a few days, but when I got home (without the cheeses) the Baby Bell website provided this advice:

yup, if it doesn't need refrigeration, it's not cheese.

However, I have found a whole bunch of packable stuff for my keto MRE. So all I have to do is find who sells them. They're supposed to be available at our big brand supermarkets, but I did not find that much yesterday. I'll go to multiple today and we'll see what I come home with.

Right?

I thought cheese was the original MRE.    :dunno:

There was a time when I just left a chunk of cheese out on the counter (under a glass dish). It was convenient to cut a bit off when feeling peckish.

(The problem there was that I ended up eating more cheese than I really needed. )

I looked harder, and went to another one for a few more items, but I am pleased to say that my MRE will holds its own, with minimal carbs. There are lots to choose from, and I am confodent I can make decent breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack modules out of these.

Of course, not all of these will be used. But I bought doubles of a few items so that I can try them and see what they taste like.
I still did not find single portion packs for some items, like SPAM, peanut butter, olives, etc, but still, there is lots of variety available now. I'll go through each item's macros and come up with the actual MRE later today if I can.

I feel bad for you if that is the selection you get to choose from.  My grocery store’s hot sauce section is pretty significant, especially compared to that.  But to be fair several of the sauces I own have come as gifts or online ordering.

That is a nice little kettle.  I also am hoping for good weather, because despite probably not traveling anywhere, I was going to do all cooking outside.

Nice to have you Hevy, I guess you'll be packing some shelf stable bounty hunter
Hi Mags!

We might try one... A shelf stable bounty hunter is very nutritive, despite the Beskar shell over it!
Maybe a Jabba's minion or two...

Good luck with the U-boat crew. Hope they not get acostumed with extra rations or light

I'm learning a lot preparing and reserching for this challenge.
(Today my son asked for some "shelf stable bacon" in his part of GSMRE)

Luckily I had the menu maker tab still open, so I did not have recreate the entire menu from scratch. And because I bought two of some items, I was able to add duplicates and not mess up my menu. :woohoo:

Good to hear  :tu:  nice and compact but enough for two cups, that's all you really need sometimes

That is a nice little kettle.  I also am hoping for good weather, because despite probably not traveling anywhere, I was going to do all cooking outside.

It's more fun even if it's out in the garden, if weather is bad i wont be going far either, last resort will be the kitchen cooker, heres hoping for some sun  :tu:

Thanks for the ideas  :D  Been a long time since i was at a fast food place but they were always a good source of salt, pepper, sauces and wipes to keep around, i might have to pass by one soon  :tu:

Looks like I can shave off a few grams of carbs. :woohoo:

Current Chicken can: 2.6 grams
New Chicken can: 0.6 grams

Savings: 2 grams

Current Sardines can: 3.5 grams
New Sardines can: 0 grams

Savings: 3.5 grams!

Total gram savings: 5.5 grams of carbs!

Current on the left

So, I will keep looking and may update my MRE with even fewer carbs.
