Hehe, I wonder who that might be...  :pok:

Also, great LibreOffice Calc Worksheet  :D

Time to get those GSMREs finished up!

You don't have 300 years to finish up your purchases and storage plans: Storage Day is 30 May ( local ).

This means that some of you have only a few hours left to complete those last minute purchases.
:ahhh
How did that roll around so quickly?
I haven't been paid yet so I'll have to leave it til next year's challenge.

Syncop8r, I'm awl-ready thinking we might do a GSMRE, Holiday Edition, in December if there is enough interest.

There will be special rules.....  ;)

In the name of science, the wife and I decided to due a few taste tests on shelf-stable foods.

1st up (was a couple days ago) - Tasty Cow cheddar

It was pretty tasty.  It is the consistency of a cheese spread or dip.  The taste was similar to the Nabisco Easy Cheese that come in the cans with the nozzles (also shelf stable).  Nice little snack with some good crackers or pretzels.

2nd up - Gilman’s Jalapeño Pepper Cheese

Not very good.  Felt like a hard cheese, but rather greasy.  The consistency when chewing was like styrofoam and the taste wasn’t much better than I imagine styrofoam would taste.  I couldn’t even taste the peppers.  The wife wasn’t even game to try this one after feeling and smelling it.  She said if I’m not feeling well tomorroy, we know why.

3rd up - Bridgeford Pepperoni and Cheese

I confess, I had some hope for this one considering Bridgeford does MREs and other shelf stable food.  It wasn’t bad and it was edible, just not as good as I was hoping.  The pepperoni was a little dry and bland.  The cheese just tasted like a mild processed cheese.  The wife tried both and didn’t like either.  She also said my opinion was probably skewed due to being in the Navy, because there were probably times I was served worse food and would have been happy to have something that tasted that “good”.  That is probably how many soldier/sailors have felt at various times, which makes it only fitting for a MRE type of challenge.

Needless to say the Gilman cheese, that was in my GSMRE, has been removed.  The Bridgeford Beef and Cheese is still in the GSMRE and I will try on chow day.

The Tasty Cow is probably the only one I would buy again.

Excellent work, Sos!

And, yeah, probably some people's previous experiences alters their perspectives on palatability.

Storage Day!

Get those GSMREs packed up and stowed!

You may be tempted to break into those treat-filled parcels, but we ask that you hold out for Chow Day. We'll soon find out how shelf-stable and appetizing your meals plans really are.

Remember, this is MTo, so Saftey Third! ( but it is on the priority list ) If on Chow Day something doesn't seem right, DON'T eat it, but DO tell us about it!

 No.....as much as I love my SPAM and instant noodles, I wouldn't wish anyone got those for Christmas.  That's borderline animal cruelty, unless you are filming an episode with Mr. Bean.
