The Leek seems to be one of the most recommended folding knives on the “other” forums.  The sheepsfoot / wharncliffe blade is really versatile
It is a nice easily carried knife that is relatively cheap compared to other quality knives, especially as an assisted opening.  I’ve come to prefer non-assisted flippers, but still love my Leek for when I want some color.

Powernoodle Day 12

(Image removed from quote.)
I found 2 more combo blades in the Special Reserve Collection - the SOG Trident, top, and Benchmade 710.

I like the textured handle on that 710

Day 12

Went for a walk today. Brought an orange for a snack and used the Skeletool to nick the peel. This knife is so light it's  :o
I really like how light and portable it is... Compared to my usual Pioneer X
Nice pic and Skeletool.  The Skeletool is definitely light for its size.

DAY 13 (Bonus Shot)
As I have to work tomorrow (Valentine's Day) Mrs Surge & I had a bottle of shampoo this evening  :drink:

As, is required for good luck, the Wingman helped split the cork for the obligatory silver coin to be inserted  :tu:
Never heard about the silver coin in cork, but good luck all the same.

When does he get his own?

I don't know. He will be 5 in June. I am working on getting him to understand that tools are not toys and can hurt you if you don't use them properly. I will probably build a small knifeless MT for him soon to use when he is with me, but I will not let him take it back to my daughter's house until he is older.

Having his own pocketknife will be problematic. I will want to get him one in a few years (probably a SAK for kids). My wife probably won't allow that to happen until he is much older.

Day 14
Today was a work day so I took along the Skeletool in case I needed the pliers. My weekend carry through mid March.

I directed the Administratrix of the Powernoodle Special Reserve Collection to pull out a few combo blades for me.  Here is what she found:

Microtech Socom Elite in Elmax steel.

Benchmade Advance Folding Combat Knives ("AFCK").  Back in the day, these were what we dreamed of.  Designed by ex-SEAL Chris Caracci with ATS-34 blade steel produced in Japan by Hitachi.  The top and bottom examples are around 25 years old.  Today, they are simultaneously futuristic and retro - like Disney World's Tomorrow Land.

https://www.tactical-life.com/lifestyle/tactics/chris-caracci-combat-mindset/

Kershaw Blur with bare aluminum scales and Snap-On logo, manufactured March 2005.  This one popped open in the envelope sent by the seller and exsanguinated my letter carrier.  There was literally mail man blood on my front porch.  I put a mirror edge on it with my Edge Pro Apex.

Kershaw 1930ST Asset - a budget, Chinese speedsafe design.  I have always loved Kershaw's entry-level assisted openers.  This one was around US$20.00

Emerson CQC-13, circa 2010.

Cool knives from the wayback machine.  :tu:

My back in the day users were a Benchmade CQC7, a Benchmade AFO auto, and a (giant) MOD CQD Mk1 auto.   All had combo edges, but the CQC7 was the only one fit for pocket carry.

Day 15

This is the Dewalt MT16, the sibling of the Stanley FatMax I carried ealier in the challenge. I used it to open a box:

I like this blade and the blade on Suspension NXT that I carried for a few days, but they are limited in function due to their small size.
