Day 15

Opened the package of this shower puff.  Actually used the serrations... Perhaps unnecessarily to keep the cut along one line with one hand... As I'd normally do with scissors.

The hook on the clip is a bottle opener... I promise to put it into action soon.  :drink:

#Kindle  ;)  But my wife wanted some books that are not available in Kindle.
I’ve come into that issue as well with a few books.

Day 15
The 940 cut some fatwood into shavings.  One occasions where I appreciated having the combo.  If a spot was too tough to just cut into with the PE, I could use the serrated section in a sawing action to cut a start.

Day 16

This is one of the electrician's MTs that I have, and it comes with a combo blade. However, the whole blade is chisel ground and not very sharp. I had to make several attempts while cutting this nylon rope.

DAY 16  The first is from my morning fishing trip.  Used the blade to cut some braid.

The second pic has nothing to do with knives.  I saw this cattle egret in the yard, and right after I took this pic, he nailed a lizard.  :tu:

I'm beginning to prefer a combo edge in a large blade like this Spyderco Resilience, and a plain edge in a smaller blade.  With the large blade, you get a big expanse of both types of edges which makes either useful depending on need.  On a smallish blade, like a Delica, the plain and combo portions each are pretty small and not quite as useful.

The plain edge Spyderco Resilience Lightweight S35VN was released today, but I am holding out for the release of the combo edge.

:iagree: On a larger blade, it's like two tools in one. I kinda see the 111mm SAKs that way.

Day 16
I wanted to take outdoor pictures today but it rained pretty much all day.  So here's a shot of the two partially serrated Myerchin Rigging knives, The W100P and the A377P.  Both are first generation models.  I prefer the first generation of the fixies, but the second gen of the folders.

Day 17

Another electrician's multi tool of mine that has a combo blade:

I have been using this challenge as motivation to carry some of these multi tools. I knew that I had a handful of MTs that happened to have combo blades. But I didn't realize just how many I had before the challenge started.

I have one more (I think ) that I will unveil this weekend.

Yeah I've been going through mine and finding all manner of combo edges.

The serrations on these Cold Steel blades are super fine.  By my count, you get about 30 contact points on the XL versions.

Looks like the bowls will be delicious. I am a big fan of Brussel sprouts.

Its pretty easy to prepare them ahead, and then put them in the oven - well seasoned - on parchment paper until you get a good caramelization.  A little bit of a nice drizzle makes them super yummy.

The technical name for the device is bleepy type thing, according to Surge who has to use it.  Probably because it makes bleepy type noises as opposed to the machine that goes, "Ping!"  If the device that makes bleepy type noises ever goes "Ping!" I think it means someone is in a lot of trouble.

Day 17
I've carried each of these knives as part of this challenge and today I wanted to show you all that there are serrations that work and serrations that don't.  I like serrations for cutting fibrous materials such as rope and palm fronds.  Today I tried to cut a palm frond.

The W100P quickly and easily cut the frond.  Excellent combo edge with very sharp serrations.  The additional leverage of it being a fixed blade knife with a longer blade may have contributed to its success.

The A377P failed.  After a couple of minutes I had barely scored the palm frond let alone made any meaningful progress.  I found that odd because it is the same pattern as the serrated edge on the W100P.

continued in next post.
