Time to put your Poker Face on….this challenge depends on Lady Luck….and she doesn’t smile on the feint of heart….
This is a 30-day, two-handed challenge to be run in January 2023. You gotta know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em, but there is no need to walk away...
We can’t say what tools you’ll be using for the month….only Lady Luck knows…and she’s fickle…..
Here’s how this challenge will play:
• On
Day 0, each participant will be ‘dealt’ a 5 card hand. This hand, using poker rules, will determine which tool(s) you will start the challenge with. This starts the 'Gummy Bear' round.
•

= Pliers-based multitools,

= trads and folders,

= SAKs, and

= fixed blade knives.
• Hearts = Pliers-based multitools, Clubs = trads and folders, Diamonds = SAKs, and Spades = fixed blade knives.
•If your hand is:

- High card — you start the challenge with one (1) tool that corresponds to the suit of your high card.
For example, a 10 of Clubs means you start the challenge with a traditional or folder.
- A Pair — you start the challenge with one tool that corresponds to each of the suits of the two pair cards.
A Queen of Clubs and A Queen of Diamonds means you start with a Traditional and a SAK.
- Two pair — you start the challenge with four (4) tools, one corresponding to each suit of the four cards that make up the two pairs.
For example, Queens of Clubs and Diamonds and Aces of Diamonds and Spades would yield one Trad/folder, two SAKs, and one Fixie.
- Three of a Kind — three tools, one to correspond to each suit of the three of a kind.
- Straight — five tools, must correspond to the suits of the straight.
- Flush — four tools of any type.
- Full House — five tools, must correspond to the suits of the Full House.
- Four of a Kind — five tools of any kind.
- Straight Flush — Six(!) tools of any kind .

• On
Day 7, each participant may attempt to improve their hand by requesting to exchange up to three cards, or four cards if your are holding an ace (like Five-Card Draw). The exchange may happen any time between Day 7 and the first final call.
Your new hand now determines the tools for the remaining days until Day 13(as above).

• On
Day 14, the best poker hand from first half of the challenge will win Gummy Bear for the round!

• On
Day 15, each player will be dealt a new hand. This new hand starts the Milk Duds round and determines the tool set for the following week.

• On
Day 21, each player may request to exchange three new cards, or four if you are holding an Ace. This new hand determines your tool set for the rest of the challenge. The card exchange may happen any time between Day 21 and the second final call.

• On
Day 29, the best poker hand from first half of the challenge will win Milk Duds for the round!

•
To avoid confusion, dealer of each round will announce the suit order, in case of a tie hand, at the beginning of each round.
•
A daily photo of the tool or tools (you lucky devil...) you carried is a must...but also appreciated.
As many of you may know, I am a fridge magnet addict, so there will be a
free magnet for those who have completed the challenge!
