Had to bow out of this one, just couldn't keep up.  But just got this USGI Aviation Match Case and thought I'd share with y'all.

Day 8

Ran a little experiment comparing some steel wool and some dryer lint.

The lint obviously went up quick after a spark with a good flame.

The steel wool again caught well with a spark but smoldered more than burnt. I should try again with a little petroleum jelly on each to compare.

Day 9
My foot is on fire. :(
But it doesn't count for the challenge so here's three sparkers. The two I carved out of Bic lighters, the smaller one is from a lighter branded TuTu, they look like a Bic but have a sparker insert like Clipper lighters.

I have not seen them separately, do you use it to spark tinder? Or light a gas stove?

Day 9

Finally found my secret stash of lighters I have collected a while ago, still mixing a few, but this definitely bring back the fun!

Marvel is an early model made by Tsubota Pearl, a Japanese lighter company.  Though this is quite old and the small rubber pad is ready to fall off from sealing the wick, it is still one of the most unique lighters I have collected.

Hope the foot will get better soon!

I remembered seeing these from another challenge, was it from the Nessmuk challenge?

How do you like the Reylight?  I discovered his light sometime last year, and all the tints are some of the best I have seen.  Quite enjoy his practical spacing and setting of the lights.

But the cool thing about steel wool is it could be easily lit with electronics/battery, and it is multi purpose as is.  I also wonder will one do better than the other in wet environment, with or without the jelly...

Day 9

Catching dried out corn cob is apparently about good technique. I could not get a good light with the ferro rod striker or the Vic saw. But, the Wave saw threw a shower of sparks and it lit straight away.

🔥DAY 09🔥

Carried the titanium magnifying glass again- it was a busy day today so didn't get a chance to try to start a fire with it- maybe tomorrow tho.

Also carried the FX and a Reylight x Vosteed Rook flashlight with triple Nichia 519a 4000K emitters that Rey just sent over. so far i'm really impressed with what it puts out for its relatively small size. i can post some beam-shots if anyone is interested- just a gorgeous tint from those 519's!  :ahhh

Day 8

Had to travel for work so I didn't get to post earlier.  Stopped by a gas station and picked up this cool lighter.  No, I'm not a Pisces.  I only noticed the cool looking Koi when I bought it.  Didn't notice the Zodiac sign until I got home.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Never thought of this, but it's a cool idea. Next time I empty a bic I'll give it a try.

As a fellow flashlight enthusiast, I'm always happy to see a beam shot as a comparison.  And I absolutely adore the 519a leds, especially the 5700 dedomed.  It has absolutely no tint shift even when when it is dim and a nice hint of rosiness in it to make it warm and good to look at. (sorry for the detour, can't resist this one)

DAY 10  My sapphire Spartan with Firefly.  The problem should be obvious: the tip broke off the Firefly, leaving it impossible to remove from the scale by normal means.  Another SAK came to the rescue, but I don't normally carry two.  I've thought about sculpting a drop of JB Weld to make a new end to grab.  Good idea?

Day 10

I don't use my Zippo on a regular basis, and some of them are mostly for collecting.  But one thing I learn about modern Zippo production is that they don't have the wick extend all the way to the bottom of the lighter.  Some are even just all bunched up at the top inside the fluid chamber.   So I am doing a rearrangement on this one to try to optimize the fuel flow.
