Only $3 postage; that is good. How long did it take to arrive?

That's my murse :D

Now I've filled my EDC Organiser I'm thinking I need something bigger  ::) I am really impressed with quality of the Maxped gear, not so much the price though.
Love the idea of a murse, not sure if I could carry it off  :-[

However, when / if you get the Jumbo and want your current bag to have a new home keep me in mind  :pok:  :D

Lol. I won't be changing it too soon I expect - the missus would kill me :D

Just a note on prices btw. Heinnie's have the biggest range of Maxpedition gear I've seen, but they do not have the cheapest prices by a long distance! E.g. the Falcon II I bought recently, compare Heinnie's price with fenixtorch.co.uk's price! Yeah - Heinnie's is 20% more  :-\ (And I'm sure they had the Falcon II at 129 quid when I was looking too - I remember it being 30 quid cheaper I'm sure).

Fenixtorch.co.uk have delivered everything next day included in the price too, same as Heinnies, so there doesn't seem to be a trade off with service either. They don't have such a wide selection - but if they have what you want :tu: It's definitely worth shopping around if you do go for it.

I ordered the Milspec Monkey patches on 1st Jan btw, and they arrived today.

I used to come here a lot.

You came to the right place I think :D

For advice on flashlights, it's worth starting a thread in the Flashlight forum here - some of the guys (not me :D) really know their stuff and I'm sure will help you zoom in on the right one for you.

What other EDC items were you thinking about?

Hi Ryan, like Dave says, there's pkenty of info here regarding lights etc but personally I have an ITP A3 EOS torch which kicks butt! There's lots of info here about them as they are quite popular at the moment.

Regarding your ALX, as it has locking blades it's technically illegal for any of us to carry I'm afraid :(
There are a lot of MTs that don't lock so you might consider looking them for EDC purposes.

Well, you'll be pleased to hear that your organizer fits perfectly into the largest compartment of the Fatboy Versipack. So you can carry both!

As for carrying it off, who cares? To me, anyone who gives me any flak for carrying a bag is not someone I would value the opinion of anyway. And you'll be surprised how many strangers (other guys) will ask where you got that bag.

BTW: for you new Fatboy fans, the Maxpedition triple mag holder is a must.  http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=250&idcategory=60

Check out the pics and you'll see why. It fits inside the CCW compartment and sticks to the loop velcro there. So if you don't carry a firearm, which I suspect our Brit pals do not, you can carry 3 SAKs, MTs, flashlights, sporks, etc in that spot quite neatly.

Also, Dave.. if you'd like your phone to be closer to your chest and free up that Molle for something else, try taking the metal clip off that holster and instead threading the Molle on it's back over the strap above the buckle. Takes some fiddling to get it over the buckle, but it is doable.

Shall I post pics of each?

I would put head phones wrapped around one of those curvyman things, gum, compact zebra pen, lighter and/or matches, possible mp3 player depending on how big it is, money.  Also, now that I think about it.  I use those little plastic containers that gum and mints come in to carry medicine (sudafed, benadryl, tylenol, ibuprofen) and also very small med kit, small bandaids and bandages, gauze etc.  That kind of stuff would fit nicely in one of those.  Very compact little kit.  It could also be one the biggest change purses I've ever seen. :)

Eh, just because..

The triple mag insert loaded with a spork, a pry bar, adjustable wrench, and my prized forceps. Wrench and pry bar both have sheaths tucked into the mag insert. Keeps them from rubbing.

Here is the PDA holster mounted on the shoulder strap and loaded with my Blackberry. This works with the 4" holster as well. Easier to access than having the device on the Molle at the other end where the strap joins the bag. And no interference with the key clip. Also saves that Molle for other things. I need it for a large tape measure on the job.

Back side view

Oh, and for those here who carry a Fatboy and want to have a light and an MT holstered and outside accessible, do buy a Maxpedition sheath for your bag. It attaches neatly to the Molle on the pouch on the side opposite to the built in sheath.

And for those that missed my prior posts about patches and want to know what that Poseidon patch is, it is a Navy liberty cuff patch. I have collected several, and they all fit the Fatboy like they were made for it.

Here are a few:

So from one Maxpedition fan to those who may be considering or are just getting kitted out, thumbs up to you! There are so many great options for this terrific bag. I am the owner of two Fatboys, and have had the first one for... maybe three years now? So I can speak to the durability and flexibility.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the pics Glorn - I can see one of those triple mag holders in my near future I think :tu:

Re: my phone - I can actually (just about) squeeze my iPhone into the built in pouch so that works pretty well.

The PDA / Phone holster on the back, I use for my camera! My camera has a sliding cover on the front that switches it on - and it's very prone to doing this when you don't want it to in my bag or pocket :( I find that the PDA holster there keeps it still so that doesn't happen, and consequently have found the battery flat less often since I started using it!

I wonder if you could get a donut in the can case too :D

There are a lot of MTs that don't lock so you might consider looking them for EDC purposes.

Another good light, that is the same size as your Solitaire but puts out more light than you'll be able to believe, is the Fenix LD01.

As for your Multi, the ALX is fine for you to carry at work, and also when going directly to and from work (so no stopping at the pub/shops etc).  A few of us can be quite flippant about carrying locking tools but given your age and the current media hype I'd be really careful about when you carry it without specific reason.

A reasonable, cheap, non-locking, UK EDC legal multi you might want to think about is the Leatherman Kick.  A lot of our options are listed here: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,8384.0.html

BTW are you mechanical or electrical?  I served my time as a mechanical maintenance engineer and have mostly done that kind of work ever since (and a few other things to add a bit of spice :D).  I didn't discover multi's until after I had finished my apprenticeship though.  :-\
Be excellent to each other and always know where your towel is.
