Day 9

Acebeam TAC AA.  I quite like the design element of the light, the led is a 519A 5000k 90CRI led, 4 levels of output that's well spaced and can even work with regular primary AA 1.5v cell.  It supposedly have tail stand capacity, but the button budge out a little, so it can only tailstand on really flat surface.

But the light does have a annoying oversight--the supposedly mode memory doesn't work properly, so each time I switch back on the light, it won't stay at the last mode setting but automatically advancing to the next light level.  If you were using the highest output level, then it will automatically cycle to the lowest level next time when it's on.

I don't actually mind light cycling from low-to-high each time, or vice versa.  But working with this mode displacement is slightly disorienting, especially if I haven't picked it up for a while.

thanks comis
the e21a in 2000K is quite warm- the color temperature of a fire or candle. they are floody especially when paired with a floody optic however they will get pretty hot quickly on turbo and eat up batteries pretty quickly. that's why i'll generally use them in the lower settings or on candlelight mode- which is really pleasant.
 :tu:

used the DT8 with e21a 2000K emitters again. my camera has a hard time capturing just how warm this light really is. it looks more yellow in the pictures but is actually quite orangey

Had to do some fuse changes on Mrs. Robert's Jeep this evening.
I counted at least 40 fuses. Are there more elsewhere? My '67 Volkswagen Beetle had about 10 total!

3 might be a little overkil, but then again I also had 3 SAKs on me as well.
"A backup for the backup" is standard operating procedure in aviation. Did you go to the aviation side during your time in the Navy?

Technically these are lanterns but they still light up pretty good.
I should get me one of those. What powers yours?

Acebeam TAC AA.
Despite the bulgy rubber button cover and mode memory issue, it sounds like a pretty good piece of gear. Will have to look into it a little more.

As usual, great work by awl! :tu:

I think that's all of them. I admit, this is my first time looking at a car fuse box. Wish I'd done it sooner, since apparently that was all it needed to fix her lighter/charger/phone ports.

Today it was this orange Rook from Reylight with nichia 519a emitters in a 4000K color temp. it's a great light that tops out at 1800 lumens (takes a 18350 battery) and easily fits in the pocket. hopefully I'll get some proper beamshots for some of these lights soon but i'm still on the mend.

Watching the Celtics game :ahhh

There might be more in the passenger compartment. As many as are underhood, I'd hope not! I'll be checking mine soon, as my car's front 12V port is OOC.

Basketball in June? I should try to catch a few more Tigers games. They beat the Brewers pretty good today. Cool light, you have there, too!

The small lanterns use 3 X AAA and the large lantern uses 3 X AA.  We always keep fresh batteries on hand.

Day 9

No work for the Olight today.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Led Lenser i9 Cri. Can't remember the exact lumens, but this is pitch black and only 5:30 pm, it gets dark very early. If I know I'm gonna be out after dark I take this light with me.

Skilhunt E2A SST20 4500K.  Of all the makers we commonly see nowadays, I particularly like the design element/milling of Skilhunt.  The lines and details just set it apart from the crowd.  This light is a small compact AA light, utilizing 14500 or regular battery.  The simple three modes are useful and well spaced.

That's cool.  I often turn off all the lights early in the apartment since my kids sleep early, but that's actually perfect for flashlight playing.

finally did some wandering today but had to take it easy as i'm still not fully recovered from the covid- it's a real doozy. carried a Emisar DT8K by Hanklight with osram W2 emitters in 6000K. this light is a beast and works well as a blinding self defense light. accompanying it is the red alox FX, a titanium mechanical pencil and my titanium mini tool set.

the tool set includes a titanium clip, titanium magnifying glass, titanium metal pick, mini titanium pen and titanium storage tube containing tweezers and toothpick scale tools.

Glad you are feeling at least a little better.

The Osram W1 LEDs are greater for bright throwers, despite being cooler than I usually like the tint is pretty good.

The differences in UV colors is interesting to me.  Some are more teal while others more violet.

Day 11

Coast G19
I have three of these.
Reversible clip. Not as cool as the S clips on Streamlights and Olight, but at least it's not fixed.
This is an inspection light, so not that powerful and not a great thrower, but it's small, perfect for a Maxpedition pouch, inexpensive, and I've had mine for about a decade and they still work.
I made a red filter out of Gorilla tape and KFC spoons.

Also, I got the Steinwhale mini driver that we keep seeing everywhere lately. Good driver, great stubby two-end bits. The extension is kinda proprietary. It doesn't work with standard bits. The magnet is recessed in a hole narrower than 1/4", designed to engage with one end of a double-ended bit. So, a regular bit sits too far away from the magnet to have any retention. The driver itself is ok for its bits and regular bits.

Day 11

Another interesting trend I have observed in recent year is the slim, rectangular flashlight.  It often comes with different functionality, such as different leds.

This Wurkkos HD01 hosts a multi-mode main led, green laser, and a RGB light on the side with multi-mode white output as well.  Definitely a night time photographer dream, perfect for light painting and such.

Day 10
The Lightsaver LS1,made in South Africa, was purchased maybe 13 years ago.
Decent light, with a strobe function, which died on me.
I manged to isolate the led board as beingbthe culprit (my son has 1 as well,so we swapped parts). The company didn't return emails,so I asked a friend to repair it for me.
It's now a shop light, and sees use when I don't want to use the L2
