Day 1:
Back to office after moving stuffs to another apartment (still lots of tidy ups, moving stuffs around and small fixes).  Not expecting much (if any) action at work as a code crawler. So here is a picture of the PST with its leather sheath. And my mechanical Thinkpad keyboard.

DAY 1

I bought this Leatherman Pocket Survival Tool new in
1984. No one I knew had any idea what a Leatherman
was at that time.

I had happened to read about the Pocket Survival Tool
in one of the Knife magazines I subscribed to and I saw
it on the top shelf of a glass display case. They only had
the one Leatherman Pocket Survival Tool sitting by
itself and it was closed so nobody recognized what it
was, but I did and I bought it on the spot.

I carried it for years before I met anyone else who
had one. After about 12 years I retired it. You can see
the worn leather sheath in the picture.

Here are a few pictures with it beside my Heritage PST
which was gifted to me.  You can see how the blade
shape changed.

That's a beauty Vicman!  I had the same experience in those days.  My Dad was the only one I came across who had one.
Then again, they weren't cheap in 1984 dollars either!

Day 1

On Nov. 4th, 2023 Vicman sent me a photo of his PST.  I had never seen one before and immediately liked it.
I headed over to eBay to check the inventory and this JPST had just been posted for sale.  At the time I didn't know it was a Japan version nor did I know that some have hollow rivets and some don't, this one has them.
This was the first of many that were purchased during that time last year.  :hatsoff:

Very nice Lisa!  The early PST 's are my favorites.  I'm amazed there's any left, especially the Japanese version.

Thank you Barry!  Once I was more familiar with them, thanks to member Legend's book, and reading all the posts here on this forum, I realized how difficult it is to find early PSTs.

That’s great!   :like: I wish LM would re-release more than just the limited editions stamped.

The rehab thread is great, Steve.  Yours is a testament to the quality of the PST.

That's a beauty Vicman!  I had the same experience in those days.  My Dad was the only one I came across who had one.
Then again, they weren't cheap in 1984 dollars either!

Sometimes I think that current LM prices are high, but it’s always helpful to remember the original runs in 80s and 90s dollars weren’t cheap. I think both Early Winters and Cabelas had them for $40, which is $120 in 2024 $$.
