3. The Angler is a great SAK to give your fishing buddy when he leaves his Leatherman at home, but you know what I really want Vic to make? 130mm Rangergrip Fisherman. The big Ranger-Pliers, Wenger style scaler/hook puller (like it better than the Vic one), and a pair of scissors. It's a shame Wenger never got to iterate more on the swing out pliers, and that Vic will probably never make a new model with them. They're a huge upgrade to the "mega tweezers" that are most SAK pliers, but still easier to carry and use than most PBMTs.
I totally agree. That would be awesome.
That yellow Ranger looks great. :o

DAY 14

MacGyver would have known just how useful the corkscrew is for undoing knots....the Spartan to the rescue

Thinking about a light weight bushcraft carry, it's the Survive GSO 2.7, with the SAK Farmer X...the alox series is brilliant, but really need the tweezers, pin and pen scale options to make it a perfect EDC carry.

Day 14

I gave the carved pliers a try. Took a few hours. If you try this, find soft wood. Or practice on styrofoam.

No idea what the wood is. I'd guess pine, but it is a processed, finished piece of furniture. It wasn't as soft as it should be for this project.

Day 14

Quiet day at home after work took one look at me and sent me back from whence I came due to looking decidedly sub par.

Day 14

We had a nice discussion of BPRoberts' goin' fishin' meal.  Pasta with pork and beans and tomato sauce.  Several of us expressed interest in trying it.  I figured maybe some time next week...?
The unexpected happens.  I didn't feel much like cooking anything for lunch.  I finally decided to heat up an entree from an MRE.  Sprinkled some Cajun seasoning on top of the mushy contents and grabbed a plastic spoon.
Surprise!  Later I looked to see what this stuff was called.  Vegetable lasagna.  Pasta and pinto beans in tomato sauce.  I deliberately avoided cooking pasta and beans and wound up eating some anyway.  It was okay.  I figured the Cajun seasoning would stand in for salt.  Not really.
Best wishes.  G

Geez! I really fell behind.

Day 10:
Another uneventful day at the office. I used the orange peeler to….wait for it….peel oranges. And I used some paper clips to clip paper together.

Not very high on my MRE list. I don't mind vegetarian meals (did it for awhile in college, consider going back sometimes), but the MRE ones are all pretty gross.

Day 14

Some teamwork involving two SAKs, a 84 Tinker’s awl and the blade of the Compact.
Used a short scrap of cord in a bright color to tie knots for a locator lanyard for a TOPO Green SIGNAL  as a precaution if it ever was laid down in the wild.

Tape and clip within arms reach along with Zippo lighter to melt the ends of the cord. 😁
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 14

Here's a weird one (lazy day, barely left the house, might as well carry/show something fun), the Golf Tool. Sizewise, it's right around 91mms, but it uses the 74mm tools, plus a ball marker, slidable divot fork, and (I think) the comboiest of all combo tools (file, tee punch, groove cleaner, bottle opener). Kind of surprised they didn't slide a pen in there to keep score.

I didn't have any fingernails to pull the perforated cap of the seasoning so I used the can opener edge to pop it off.
