Day 2

decided to have a day at the home office, so no issues carrying a large folder today.

Endura TRL again.

Not a hard work day for the Endura. Managed to sell off some more used gear today. Used the knife to adjust the size of some old cardboard boxes to fit the items I was sending.

Day 2

Feeling worse today than I did yesterday.  These coughing fits are no bueno.  Had mail call today and I was craving some ravioli from when I was kid.  Had to cut open the package.

I hope you turn the corner and start to improve Nando!

That is a sweet LEEK!

I had to do a double take, as my LEEK is a PE, and had to do some searching and found that Kershaw made this with different blades styles.

Get better my TEXAS friend, maybe some spiceyn chili will drain those sinuses!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 3

The combo blade of my PST II, was used to slice open a mailer containing two 84mm SAKs that I bought from the same seller on the auction site.

Appreciate it LC.  Funny you mention spice as I've been adding more spice to all my food since I can't taste it.

I over did the cayenne pepper the other day (because I couldn't taste it) but then I started wondering why my tongue was feeling funny.

I was able to breath clearly for a bit though.

For me, HORSERADISH will open the sinuses!

Spice for flavor I can take. Spice for heat not so much.

A friend who grew up in Thailand suggested a Thai restaurant.   Cautioned me regarding hot spices. Ordered mild. Add my own sauce. Just a partial small spoonful. It was thirty minutes before I could feel my lips, my tongue much longer.  :ahhh

Oooh, forgot about horseradish.  I'll need to try that tonight.

First time I ate Thai I figured I could take the heat.  I ordered my soup and my main dish with Thai hot.  It... was.. hot... I finished it all but my stomach did not like me for the rest of the day and I don't think I could taste properly for the rest of the day.

I never made that mistake again!

Managed to sell off some more used gear today.
I need to get on that myself. One of these days my hoard will be pared down.

Feeling worse today than I did yesterday.
I hope you're better by now. And I don't think I've seen a Kershaw with a combo edge!

The combo blade of my PST II, was used to slice open a mailer containing two 84mm SAKs that I bought from the same seller on the auction site.
Sweet Wenger! I have one that'll be seen in this challenge.

Day 3

This Gerber Suspension NXT lives in my paracord tools box. It got a few whacks across the Lansky Turnbox, and now its plain edge portion cuts paracord better.

Mini Challenge Announcement.

On Day 5, should you choose to accept it -

Measure twice - Cut twice

cut something - anything - with both the plain edge and serrated edge sections of your blade and report on any differences or preferences you noted.

@FarmerX - Feeling better now thanks!  Morning was a bit rough but felt better as the day progressed.  Felt well enough to cook dinner and move some furniture around this evening.  Crazy thing about the Leek as I initially thought they only came as PE/SE.  It's not until a few months later that I saw a PE did I realize they came in both.

Day 3

Sadly no actions shots for the Kershaw Leek so here's a glamour shot instead.  This Leek has been with me all 20 years of my IT career.  I've lost track of how many times I've replaced the spring bar on it.  Hasn't failed me yet in spite of me.

Very nice!!

Day 4

Had to open some go-go beans this morning.  Both the PE and SE did a fine job cutting the bag open but the PE was cleaner.

Also helped my son open his allergy meds this evening.  Because I always open them with any knife I have on me, he now thinks this is the coolest way to open meds.   :D

Day 4 (a day late)

This GERBER was selected for duty today.
Started Wednesday with dental appointment and squeamish stomach.

Survived the ROOT CANAL, on travel home not feeling well.   At home my system failed me. INTESTINAL FLU, both ends.  Repeat once an hour.

I was down and out.  Kept fluid intake, but really no rest.

Last thing on my mind was the COMBO CHALLENGE.

A day later, a little better, ate some soup and then slept a straight 3 hours.   And this picture!

Day 5 + mini challenge

The FREESTYLE

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The mini
Blade 1 Freestyle
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The PE cut the cardboard smoothly and had little trouble with downward pressure.

The SE cut a bit more ragged requiring a saw type action.

The GERBER (longer blade!
[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The PE did the job, cardboard edges were flat on each piece.

The CE also did the job, did require a pull action, and from my perspective cut as clean and cut quicker with two pulls.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Had to open some go-go beans this morning.
That is a task of paramount importance!

The FREESTYLE
:like: Mine will make an appearance, too. And glad your dentist visit didn't go too badly.

Day 5

Measure twice, cut twice mini-challenge

For this mini-challenge, I chose string cheese and paracord. The serrated portion left the string cheese slightly wavy and cut the paracord nicely. Of course, it was a cakewalk for the plain portion.

Day 5 - Mini Challenge

Measure twice - Cut twice

You mean, besides my finger....?

Cut some nylon cord with the PE without issue.  Swift cut with a small fray.

Used the SE edge.  The serrations did get caught on the nylon cord so I had to pull a bit harder but still did a good job.  It didn't fray as much as I expected it to.

Nice job with the mini challenge awl!

The inspiration for it was a Felix Immler video where he compared the two edges and carved wood with the serrations, which seemed like it would be harder than it turned out to be.

Hope you feeling better LC.  I remember when my wife had a root canal.  She was not a happy camper.
~

Well, two weeks prior I was not happy either!  Apparently the root died on the tooth and an infection set in the involved my lower right gums and jaw.   10 days of some heavy dosage antibiotic knocked the infection down after a couple of days and cleared it up the pain I experienced.  Then continued the meds till gone. Just coincided with the scheduled ROOT CANAL.  WHICH I SURVIVED!  Temp cap and next step the fitting for a crown and gin repair.

What knocked me on my butt was an intestinal flu, requiring immediate attention every 60 minutes or about. Like a cleanse of sort, in which you can not ignore. I think I slept pretty much Wednesday after thru Thursday, heeding those urges the first 12 to 15 hours.  I have not had this type of sick for 8 or 9 years and I was flying solo this time.

I truly appreciate your concern as I have survived this test at my advance years so to speak.

Not my first root canal either🤪 this was a tooth with a single root stem. Piece of cake with numbing.

Norovirus infection, I reckon. The antibiotics made it feel worse by killing the good bacteria.

Take some probiotics and yogurt with “active cultures” and you should be right as rain.

I was thinking along the same line!  The antibiotics were stronger than normal and had completed them two days prior.   I started my yogurt back up on Thursday. Stabilized later in the day after catching up on sleep.

Day 7

Got some use out of my Leek today.  Had to cut up some cardboard for recycling.

Cut open some new filament for 3D printing.

Stopped by Tractor Supply and bought something that had been catching my eye for a while.  I picked me up this Old Timer lockback.  It's a pretty little knife.

^. Very nice looking knife!  I can see how you were tempted, as I too am attracted to lockback knives.

Day 8

Woke to falling snow and a balmy 16°F this morning! 🥶

With coffee in my mug I selected my GERBER Air Ranger to be clipped inside the right Jean pocket.  And, I also wanted to share (imho), a well designed combo knife in a larger frame, another GERBER.   I believe four of my Combos are GERBER MADE plus two MTs

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The AIR RANGER, this model was an always on sale item at GANDER MOUNTAIN stores in the day, varying between $14.99 and 18.99 each strategical placed in sale baskets around the store.   Bought several and would give to newbies working with me, if I thought they could properly handle a sharp tool.

The BG HUNTER folder was just one of several models made.  Found this marked down after the holidays.  It is well made but what I like besides the size is the larger SE section of the blade.  It is more than a 1/3 of the blade, would be better if half (imo), but it is still good.

Not a lot of plans to cut things up, today, but best to be ready.
