Wenger RangerClip 67. Picked up at the Wenger store in Boulder at a very nice price. Probably the last knife I'll get there as their stock is getting pretty low. If you're in the Colorado Front Range area you should stop in before they close in about a month.

Not exactly a new SAK,
But thanks to a recent delivery from rotokid my camo huntsman is now a black huntsman plus and my red camper is now a ruby plus.
So now both feel brand new anyway.

Thank you rotokid.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

Very nice! I am fan of the MiniChamp myself. Do you have photos from different angles of this one? I assume you have this done in other colors as well? Show us more, please.

Still waiting on my Wenger Backpacker, USPS sure is taking its time.  >:(  Got a bit of a SAK itch lately, and scratched it nicely with a Huntsman, picked up at a local shop for only $20!

Okay, I'm supposed to be on the wagon right now, for buying just about anything/everything.  But, (and I know I shouldn't have been doing this anyway), I was browsing SAKs on Amazon, and there was a listing for a Work Champ XL for $69.99!!!

Here's the link:

http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Swiss-Army-Workchamp-Xl/dp/B0007QCPA0/ref=sr_1_63?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1344218467&sr=1-63

At first I thought it must be a typo...  and I turned away at first... couldn't believe the price... and I'm not supposed to be spending money right now, but I went ahead and pulled the trigger.  The price, if true, is just too good to pass up.

At the very least I'll have a shelf queen (I mean, who is going to actually carry/use a WCXL?), or I can tear it down for parts to do mods with.

Anyway... just gotta wait and see if the price holds out...

I'll soon be waiting for some :mail:

My pleasure!  First thing I thought of after placing the order was to let you guys know about the price.   :tu:

I honestly have no idea what I'll do with it.  I'm not a collector, I don't keep shelf queens, and I keep my stable small and focused.  I like to have uses and/or places to keep my tools so that when I might need one, there's one there.  I keep my CT41 on my desk, as a general go-to tool; I keep my Swiss Champ in my toolbox in the garage, my PER Ranger lives in my hiking pack, etc.

So eventually, I'll either trade this one, or tear it apart to make something custom for myself, once I get a bit of experience with doing mods.  (Gonna start with 91 mm models first.)

Actually the WorkChamp XL is a very good source of parts. Did you notice the large clip point blade that is not currently avalilable on any other Vic SAK?

However, unfortunately, I have a bit of bad news here. It looks we've been had  :-[ I ordered one for me last night and quickly the seller sent an order confirmation e-mail - it was for a plain WorkChamp, not XL, and the model number matched. I e-mailed them immediatey thinking that they made a mistake. But today the problem appears different and it kind of explains why the so low price for the XL. There it appears that there is no XL from this seller at this price, just the plain WorkChamp, incorrectly listed on Amazon as an XL.

So if it looks too good to be true...

What model number did they give you? 53771 is the XL, 53761 is the plain WorkChamp.

It happened to me with the same company about two weeks ago. I found a great price of the Swisstool RS ($45) on their Amazon marketplace then they sent me a Fieldmaster instead. The funny thing is, they didn't refund the $8.99 shipping cost that they charged me, I had to email them 3x and contacted Amazon support department to get that said shipping fee.

Anyway, they offered me a 15% off discount for the Fieldmaster for a total of $30+shipping. I just laughed at them and said no thanks as I can get the Fieldmaster directly from Amazon for only $25.

I figured as much.  Been sucked in by an Amazon Partner selling out of Europe once before, so this time I send the company an email asking them to confirm the model number.  No response back from them yet.

That was just too good of a deal to be true.  I paid double that a few years back, and now the base price is even higher given the changes in the economy and Victorinox distribution.

Argh...     Okay, gotta check this out and cancel the order then.  I don't need a 2nd Work Champ.

Edit: just checked my email and the order info says "Work Champ", with no "XL".  I went back to Amazon's page for the item and took a screen capture that clearly shows it advertised as the XL, in both the picture and the title/name of the item.  (For evidence.)

If they give me any runaround, then I'll just dispute the charge with my credit card company; I won't need to go through Amazon at all, because they'll penalize Amazon which will make them take action against the seller.  But, I will also notify Amazon of their practices.

From what you guys are saying here, it sounds like they might be consistently employing bait and switch tactics.  If that's the case, I think we should start a feedback campaign for this seller, leaving comments on their Amazon seller info detailing these experiences we're having.  If we hit them were it hurts, their seller reviews, it should have some effect on them.

If you are referring to the same seller, I discussed with them today and they confirmed that they do not have in fact XLs for sale currently and cannot obtain others from Vic (discountinued model). What they have is the standard WorkChamp, model number confirmed...  >:(

Yes, I saw that in your message I quoted.  I'm not waiting for their response any longer, just mentioned I had sent the email.  It won't be on Amazon much longer.

It appears that Amazon fixed now the listing but of course the price is corrected as well:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007QCPA0

Amazon recommended me this listing to try for an XL earlier today but at the time this was still linking (listed as XLs) to the same plain WorkChamps from the same seller.

Have to deal with a return and a refund now (although I told them to not send the wrong item, hours after I just told them they shipped the wrong thing anyway)  >:(

I'll start a thread in the Buy/Sell forum about this, so we can post there about experiences with this company, and what we can do to deal with them more effectively.  I'm sure that the collective might of MT.O can be fearsome if we work together on this...

I think if we go about this right, and follow the legit complaint / review process with Amazon, we'll get some kind of results.  As I mentioned above, if we can make a dent in their seller ratings, without being nasty about it, I bet they'll take some notice.  Wether they do anything because of it is a different issue though, but at least we can try and get word out about them and their deceptive product info to others and help keep them from falling into the same trap.  I'm sure most people probably won't notice the difference between, say, a Huntsman and a Climber, and being ripped off for a few bucks in the process, so hopefully we can do something about this.

Okay, I started a thread in the "Multitools For Sale" forum in the trading subforum.  Here's the link to the thread.

I asked a mod to make it sticky so we could all find it easily for future reference.
