Those are nice. I like both So Chic editions but what I don't like is the price tag :)

Congrats everyone. I dig that So Chic in black, beautiful knife. Nothing much new here, Bark River is breaking me atm. I have purchased a black harvester from Tim and I'm anxiously watching for something I'm told is a very rare alox from across the pond.  ;)  :gimme:  :ahhh

The red static one is lovely... is it a print which will wear off though?

Unless they mix it all the way thru I imagine it would eventually wear off.  Which sucks because then what's the point

Yes, it looks like a print with a coat of lacquer or something similar but this one is destined for display and won`t get any pocket time.

A pink translucent Classic catches the light. I got this one used but a few minutes with some metal polish has restored it to it`s former glory.

My latest is the Wenger EvoGrip16 :mail:

My initial impression is that I love it :D  I love the red/black scales (although they are a bit thicker than I would have liked, which makes the whole SAK thicker than I would think it needs to be), and it has a great pocketable size (despite the just mentioned scale thickness).  And man, are the knife and can opener sharp :o.  I think the knife is the sharpest SAK blade I've ever seen right out of the box.  I also love how the toothpick and tweezers are placed against the inner liner of the scales instead of having the tabs plainly visible on the outer edge like on the Vics.  That keeps the scales looking nice imo.  Gave the nailfile/cleaner a quick test and it worked great, so I'm going to like that.  I considered filing the tip down a bit like JD mentioned so that it can be used as an extra driver, but I'd rather have it as a nail cleaner.

Now, I had one issue (aside from the scale thickness, but that's trivial overall) and that is the scissors.  The spring stuck right from the first attempt at using them, so that I would have to force them back open every time.  I was very disappointed in that as I initially thought I would have to send it back and get a replacement, and I really didn't want to have to mess with that.  Then my inner tinkerer kicked in and I whipped out the PST and deployed the smallest flathead.  I began to use that to sort of pry the spring outward a little, and held it there for a bit.  That seemed to do the trick at first, but after a few openings/closings of the blades, it started sticking again.  I tried this method a couple more times and still didn't do the trick.  I was trying to go about this gently, but I decided I needed to use something with more force, so I opened up the pliers.  I proceeded to torque/twist the upper end of the spring outward and ended up bending it too far, so I put it back inward a bit.  I must have found the sweet spot, because so far they seem to be working swimmingly :)

I think this would be my ideal urban SAK actually since my Yeochamp has some extras that make it more than an urban SAK.  This EvoGrip16 has everything basic that I would want in a SAK.  I possibly may have wanted a corkscrew more than the T-handle phillips since there can be more versatile uses with the corkscrew (I also considered filing down the nailfile tip to give me makeshift inline phillips, but still would rather have it as a nail cleaner), but honestly, I've never used the corkscrew for more than the mini driver holder as I don't drink wine and apparently haven't encountered any situation where I thought it would be useful, so the phillips may prove more useful.  The awl is decent enough, but I do wish it was a bit sharper, but the deadly can opener may make up for that in some uses.  So overall, I would say I am very pleased (especially since I was able to fix the scissor spring issue), and I think my Yeochamp may end up a little jealous.  I will still carry it and the Mechaneer as well, but they each will have to give up a week in my rotation to give the EvoGrip16 its own slot as well.  That will make it 2 weeks per SAK I carry, so they'll all get even carry time during the work weeks, but I can see this little gem getting carried more than the others outside of work, especially at home and especially during the summer season when I'm in lighter shorts.

Sorry for the long winded post, but I get this way with a new toy, and maybe other times as well ;)  Also, sorry for the lack of pics as I can't post any right now.  I will have to do that later tonight at home.

I'm glad you finally got a Wenger. I think it's kinda funny that the Wenger scissor spring is supposed to not be able to break like a vic one can, but it came broken. I hope it works now. The only real vic feature I miss on Wengers is the hook. I just feel like I miss the hook even though it is not very used.

Yeah I know right?  Although at least I was able to fix it, but that's still not the point.  Also, since I ordered it through Amazon, I wouldn't be surprised if it could have been a slightly used one that was returned.  I think that's happened before

One other thing I have noticed now that I've been tinkering with it some more:  the springs seem slightly weaker or not at tight as a Vic's.  Maybe it's just this particular possibly used one I received, or maybe that's how they compare in general?

I'm glad you're enjoying your new Wenger!  :D   I hope you're finding that you just can't have too many SAKs in the rotation - the more the better!

Thanks man :salute:  I think I am finding that out, despite proclaiming that once I had my custom SAKs, I would not buy anymore SAKs.  Oh well, the bug is persistent and relentless >:D
