A delicate mod on an old school new in box pioneer today.

I was proud of the brass liner and spacer I cut by hand, it polished up nice!

Its funny Ive become so picky about how my hard anodize finish looks I forgot how rough the stock finish is on the edges.

I loved this one, the only model that beats it is the green olive with black tools that you use in your avatar.  Congratulations for another great job Robert!

Thank you all for the welcome greetings!  :tu:

I don't know, if this "show me" thread is the right place to ask, but the colored alox are hard to get! Does anyone know a source within Europe (better: Germany; even better: Bavaria), where i can get Pioneers with another color than silver or black?  :pok:

Picked up this lot on fleabay, several nib classics and Spartans plus some classic dross, but the target is the unused new model Outrider.  Locking blade, scissors AND an inline Phillips. woot!

Lurking with a large collection of sharp knives!

Had to have a Locksmith for that blade and the dual saws. I like it. Maybe I will switch the black scales to DD ones.

Nice ones.

Me thinks that older reds tended to be lighter than newer and current red shades. The red on the 108 mm line, for example. Or the background on the Soldier shield - the older ones were almost orange too. Even the regular red alox shade seems to be slightly darker today from what it used to be.

I popped by the Victorinox dealer today, to check on some new and old Damascus goods availability, and took some pictures. Here is an interesting one about their kitchen knives.
(There also may ??  ;) be some new Wenger style Victorinox knives coming in the new year, like 85mm ones, ones with nail-clippers..)

I've been wondering about this... Red, as any painter will tell you, is probably the worst colour for fading so I'm thinking that the older knives may have had the same red on them originally, but time has softened the intensity of the pigment.

Sure but I am not talking about SAKs with faded scales. In the case of the 108 mm Nylon scales they simply switched from one red to another. For alox is not that clear cut since there are variances between runs. The Cellidor red I think is about the same as it used to be. The Soldier shield background and the 108 mm being the most noticeable from what I saw.

Thanks for the interestig image... Interesting that a manufacturer would be so proud of this mass fabrication process to display it like it would be something special. Thin stamped blade, no full tang, molded plastic handle, a kitchen knife as cheap as it can be.
